Starting a mini-detox

Back in June I followed a 3 week detox program where I eliminated a number of items from my diet (alcohol, sugar, breads, dairy). I felt fantastic afterwards.

Over time I have gravitated back to my unhealthy diet and my body feels sluggish and I am carrying a few extra pounds. I'm not willing to commit to a full 3 week program again but am hoping to try a mini-version. I figured I'd write my goals on the board to make me more accountable. I'm hoping that during this work week I can avoid sugar, alcohol and breads. I hope that by thinking about it in a small chunk of time I won't feel as overwhelmed and that I may start feeling better by the weekend and encouraged to continue.

Anyways, thanks for reading. If you have any tips/suggestions about what worked for you please let me know becauseI always like to learn from other people's experiences.

Re: Starting a mini-detox

  • I myself have been avoiding too much alcohol, sugar, breads, and dairy for almost a year now but since I was feeling fine I kept eating more of it even when I wasn't hungry.  What I have noticed is that I used these foods when I'm stressed because my coping skills are limited.  I realize that instead of just staying away from these foods I should also try to learn to de-stress.  Maybe that would be helpful to you as well.  Trying to avoid eating the "wrong" foods can be stressful.
  • Thanks. That's a very good point that you've raised!
