Need color/paint advice

Hi,

We are trying to figure out a color scheme for our living room.  We have off-white with tan accent berber carpet, medium oak built in bookshelves/trim, tan leather sofa/loveseat, and a brick red upholstered chair.

The room has a fireplace with reddish brick on the wall, and we are thinking of decorating in a fall color scheme.

Do the colors brick red, pumpkin, and a mustardy yellow sound good together?  With maybe a little green accent?  We are thinking of red only because of the upholstered chair, but if you have better ideas for color we are open to suggestions!  The carpet and the tan leather sofas need to stay.

THANKS!

Re: Need color/paint advice

  • Tan, off white, brick red, pumpkin and mustard will work together.   It is a very saturated color scheme.  I don't think that adding green in small doses will enhance that color scheme.  With a saturated color scheme, you want to make sure that the intense colors of brick, pumpkin and mustard have similiar tonal values so they are not competing with each other.   This is just a matter of putting the colors together to see if they look good.   Please post pix when you are done.
  • I think so! There's even a piece of metal wall art at Bed Bath and Beyond that will complement it all. It's a circle plate design that can be hung either vertically or horizontally and has 12 plates in those colors.

Make sure you post pictures and let us know how it comes out.
