I know some of you have looked at few model homes before having your house/condo built so I'm curious how our model home compares in our neighborhood. On the sign outside it says that the homes are starting at 250k but then they have the model home which you can get built as is for $415k. Is that a big jump from 250 or is just me and this is normal for model homes? I know the model home is all spruced up and its supposed to have all the extras but it seems to me like thats a bit of false advertising.

Re: Model Homes
The signs are for base model, no upgrades at all. It's not false advertising because the signs say - starting out at $_____. There's also different models to choose from, and they always put the smallest model price on the sign. I don't know what our model price was, but we went around asking what was upgraded, and they didn't go crazy and upgrade everything in there.
I just feel like I would be pretty dissapointed if I went to look at a house thinking it will be around 250, maybe 350 max which is already high over just to find out the decent model is 415. The model we have isnt even the top model, it is all spruced up nicely but its not the biggest house available.
One thing I did learn from them though that its actually more expensive to build a ranch house than a 2 story house because they have to dig more/more foundation etc. I never knew that.
