Over/under?

What time do you think the major news outlets are gonna call the presidential election?

Re: Over/under?

  • You ladies are killing me, I'm going to be exhausted tomorrow!

I'm going to be optimistic and say 10:30.

I hope you are right!  I guess it depends on how close it is.  If it is too close to call in OH and they have to count provisional ballots, they can't even begin to count them until 11/16.

LOL!  that's very specific.  I'm going with 10:30pm.  i don't think it will be as close as everyone says

    LMAO!

  • Shortly after 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

We should know the results of NH, VA and Ohio by then. I'm trusting Florida to be a mess; it's Florida. But NH, VA and OH should pretty accurately predict the election. Nevada is basically safe Obama at this point, although Colorado is up in the air. Iowa's polls apparently close crazy late, but my hunch is we won't have to wait that long.

There are some scenarios that make for a late night, most of which involve Ohio and Florida both being too close to call until late in the night. Ohio could potentially create another Election 2000 where everyone goes to bed not knowing who won. But my own hunch is Obama will win Ohio by enough of a margin not to require a recount.

  • CB - I didn't sleep very well last night so I saw the Over/Under title of your post and throught you were taking a poll of how one prefers the toilet paper roll be placed on the holder.

    For real?

I don't mean that snarky.  But you really think one candidate has it locked away tight?

I was thinking this. But I hope it's earlier, obviously.

  • I'm sitting here thinking I can imagine how Obama and Romney feel. Aside from feeling exhausted this must be extremely emotional for them and their families. I hope for their sake it doesn't run too late.

    Ha!  Agreed...

  • I think Obama has it locked away.  I can also see the winner being called before 11pm.

I could be way off! I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong, so that may be the case here, but I am with vlagrl in thinking it won't be as close (electoral vote wise) as everyone thinks.

  • I was not expecting Virginia to keep its polls open so late into the night. I also forgot that basically every state allows anyone who is in line when the polls nominally close gets to vote.
