need restaurant recs

Providing that Molly stays put (as she seems to be wont to do), DH and I are going out for a last hurrah, big deal dinner date the night of the 15th.

Price is not a concern, but I'd love to hear some recommendations. I thought about Buckley's in Merrimack. We've been to Michael Timothy's in Nashua and enjoyed it but the menu online wasn't thrilling me right now. I'm definitely considering Hanover St. Chophouse in Manch. Not really interested in CR Sparks this time around. Will consider driving further for a really good restaurant.

TIA!!

Re: need restaurant recs

  • I definitely vote for Hanover Street Chophouse... we went back in the spring and really enjoyed it... the food was delicious, and it was very nice without feeling too "fancy-pants" (aka.. there were no snobby waiters making us feel uncomfortable!)... I've also heard that Richard's Bistro (right down the street from Gaucho's) is very good, but we haven't checked it out yet.

Have fun with the last hurrah! :)

  • I am very new to the area, but we went to Richard's Bistro & it was good.

I like the Bedford Village Inn.

I'm not quite sure how far a "drive" is for you, but a few people have told us that the new restaurant at the Centennial Inn in Concord is quite a surprise.

  • we went to the Hanover street chop house for Jeff's birthday a couple years ago and he is still raving about how good the steak was... It really was good!  :)  I'd go there over Buckleys....
  • If you don't mind the drive, Bonta in Exeter or Ron's Landing in Hampton (with a view of the ocean...) have never let me down for "special occasion" eating.  Have a blast!!!
  • If you feel like a drive, next week is restaurant week in portsmouth.
