i thought it was really awful. She didn't take the stage til 10:40. I was hoping for some other perspectives as my friends and I were anticipating her to crank out the Immaculate Collection. We got a political rally and a lot of F-bombs instead.
and way too many shots of her mostly naked, saggy butt.
most of our section ended up leaving. no one was standing or dancing or singing until the last 10 minutes of the show (Like a Prayer). Very disappointed!!
Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. I felt similarly when I saw Lady Gaga in 2011. It actually turned me off from her completely. Sorry you were disappointed!
I went - there definitely some WTF moments (I wasn't a fan of the beginning few songs/acts), but overall I liked it. I had heard some negative reviews of the concert previously, so I expected to be disappointed, but I can't say that I was.
I knew she would be going on late, so my friends and I didn't get to our seats until maybe 10:00. As much as I loved watching the Blonde Ambition tour over and over on HBO back in the day, I knew it wasn't going to be a concert like that, so I only expected a few of those songs. My section was also fun, with people standing and dancing (outside of some of the slower songs). I didn't think the political stuff was all that bad, I thought it was pretty tame considering it was Madonna & election night. I could see Romney supporters being annoyed, but I didn't feel like it was through the whole concert or anything offensive.
There are so many mixed reviews out there - I totally get that the concert wasn't for everyone, but I enjoyed it and had fun!
i am glad you had fun
i agree- the whole first act was very bizarre - catholic church, guns, blood...
the reviews I had read were all really positive, so I guess I set myself up for disappointment. i am very non-political, so her calling Obama "her baby," and leading the audience in a chorus of "F*** yeahs!!" was just not my thing. I just wanted to hear Material Girl!!
haha
we knew (as of Monday AM) that the show wasn't starting at 8 like the ticket implied, so we didn't sit down til about 10 either.... getting started at 10:40 on a Tuesday night makes 5:40AM come pretty quickly! I am dragging today, big time.
How time flies! Caileigh (9), Keira (6) & Eamon (3)
I wasn't there but, I have to say I am the same way and that would have annoyed me too.
