Do You Think Bill Clinton Helped Obama Gain Votes?

My nephew doesn't think he influenced votes in Obama's direction at all. I disagree. I believe he must have helped him (to an extent).

What do you guys think? Any polls that track this?

Re: Do You Think Bill Clinton Helped Obama Gain Votes?

  • So what if he did?

The Koch brothers sure as shiit did enough to try and sway votes towards Romney.

  • I doubt many that were leaning towards Romney had their opinions changed by Clinton, to be honest.

I don't care if he did. I was just wondering what people here think. I believe he did because most dems love him and respect his opinion.

  • I guess I don't understand the point of this post, then.

  • Do you think Clint Eastwood helped Romney's campaign?

  • So your just wondering if endorsements from other politicians help? I don't think it hurt him, but I think most Clinton lovers were already voting for Obama.

Eastwood I don't think so. I specifically mentioned Clinton because he is very well liked and was a former president.

  • I think in general, the lack of an endorsement means more than an endorsement.

Like pp said, Bill Clinton wouldn't change many minds that weren't already leaning Obama.  Maybe he revved the base a little bit - but realistically we haven't heard much from him since September.  I just don't think he had a huge impact.

However, if he hadn't endorsed Oabama, I think a lot of undecideds would have raised their eyebrows a bit

  • I think he helped by adding new momentum to the campaign. He got the media excited. His "math" catch line caught on. Obama got a nice boost in the polls after the DNC -- which was expected but Clinton certainly contributed. He made the case for Obama better than Obama had been making for himself.

  • I think chris christie did more than clinton.

  • That would be the point of his going places and saying nice things about Barry.

Well, I think different kinds of people can cater to different fan bases. I bet there were several people who got excited and motivated about "Dirty Harry." it's dumb, but true, I saw it in my newsfeed. But I doubt he changed the outcome.

As PPs have said already, Clinton probably didn't make a huge difference among people who weren't voting Obama to begin with, but maybe his endorsement comforted some wavering undecideds/unenthusiastic Dems.

    Yup.

I don't really remember seeing that much of Clinton, actually, aside from the DNC.

He was definitely hitting the swing states in the last few weeks. In the days surrounding Sandy, I believe he and Biden picked up some of the slack for Obama's canceled campaign events.
