I really like America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Country on PBS, but it looks like they have two magazines. Have you tried either of them?

It really depends on what you like to cook.  I get Cook's Illustrated, and I love it.  I appreciate knowing why something works or doesn't work.  Cook's Country also explains the recipes well.  The difference between the two is Cook's Country is about down-home cooking.
