Exciting news-wanted you all to be the first to know!!!

Nope I'm not pregnant, but I bet I made ya look :-)

We are going to look at a house tomorrow.  We bought our house in 2009 and it is a nice house, but not in our ideal area and it doesn't have a basement.  We have been tossing around the idea of moving but decided to wait until at least spring/summer when the market is more active.

Well, today I happened to be looking at homes for sale just out of curiosity and I found one that looks like EXACTLY what we are looking for and in our price range.  It is in the city DH works in (that we want to move to), it's a newer home on a cul-de-sac with woods behind it and just looks amazing.  We both agreed we want to at least go see it so we are going tomorrow at 5:30 after we both get off work.  I am so nervous.

The bad news is it is a short sale, and our home isn't currently even on the market.  Short sales are a major PITA and with the holidays and winter coming up I don't know how realistic it is to expect to sell our house anytime in the foreseeable future.  We need the equity in our current home to put a down payment on a new home.

So anyways I just thought I'd share because I am really excited and nervous!

  • How exciting!  We are just starting to talk about the possibility of buying a house.

The house sounds like it could be a great choice for you guys.  Cul-de-sacs are great!  The good thing about short sales is that they do take a while, which could work to your advantage.  Keep us posted!

  • thanks ladies!  yeah I agree about short sales taking longer could be a good thing.  But we need our house to be sold in order to get financing and be able to put 20% down on the new house so I have no idea how that would all work.  The realtor mentioned something about putting ours up on the market and if it didn't sell on time asking for a "release" from the short sale.   She said we'll discuss it more tomorrow.  It all makes my head spin just thinking about it.  And having to keep our house clean and uncluttered to show it with an almost one year old tearing it up is enough to make me exhausted just thinking about it!  People do it all the time though so it'll all work out I suppose.
  • How exciting! Sounds like a great home that you would love. I hope everything goes the way you want it :) Keep us posted!
