An unarmed U.S. drone was fired upon over international waters by the Iranians last week.

I don't blame them. We were obviously spying on them and got caught. We would do the same thing if Iranian drones were in or near American airspace.
Why? We can't exactly admit that yes, we are illegally sending drones into the airspace of a sovereign foreign nation and that's why they shot us down.
Everybody spies, but you can't just say "yup, you caught us spying, sorry!"
