Re: Breast feeding doll - yes or no

  • I am going with yes. If we want to encourage breast feeding when it is possible for a woman, I think we should start at a young age.

Disclaimer: I don't have kids. Maybe I would fell differently if I did. I can't say.

  • I am going with "doesn't care either way."

I really don't mean that snarky.  It's just that as a mom who attempted it and hated every second of breast feeding, it doesn't rank high on my cares or concerns about what someone else wishes to do.  In fact, it was the "encouragement" that feed the guilt over despising it.

    Breast isn't always best.

  • I think it's great, but I wouldn't spend $90 on one for my own kid. I did breastfeed her for 13 months until she finally self-weaned. I don't care what other women do; I think formula is a perfectly legitimate choice (I quit pumping around six months and sent formula to daycare) but I do very much wish more people would get over their hang-ups of seeing a woman nurse in public.

  • Like pp said, kids that are exposed to breastfeeding would do this with a $10 doll just as much as they would with a $90 doll.

I don't see any harm - except for the price tag.
