I am planning to paint my window trim to match the new baseboards we had installed. The previous window trim is oil paint.
My expectation is that I will need to prime the trim before painting to avoid any peeling. Is this correct? Any other tips?
Re: Painting over Oil Paint
There are two ways to go over oil paint: either sand and prime OR paint with more oil instead of latex. (You may live somewhere where oil paint has been outlawed; it's not true for the entire country.) Latex over unprepared oil will peel; oil over latex will not.
One thing I'm not sure of is whether there's a specific recommended primer for this; google and see - my gut says no.
