Who here has had an EEG? (Epilepsy-related)

I just received the results of my sleep-deprived EEG and they came back normal. No spikes or signs of seizure-related waves, at all. Anyone have this happen before? What was the result? I've never had this happen before.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy as a toddler and my last seizure was when I was 8. I'm still on medication.

Re: Who here has had an EEG? (Epilepsy-related)

  • I had one a little over 4 years ago because they thought I had epilepsy. (I would pass out, but not have convulsions, so the doctors thought I was having seizures in my brain). My tests came back normal but they said an average of 1/3 of tests are wrong because you have to have a seizure during the test for it to read anything.
  • Hi. I didn't have one, but, one of my 2yo twins did when he was 12mos. He was having these "fainting spells". Had an EEG and it was all normal. Turns out he wasn't having seizures but was related to his breath holding when he was upset. Thankfully he doesn't do it anymore. But the peds-neurologist did say that because he was so young that if he did have epilepsy that there was a chance he'd out grow it by 5y.
