It just dawned on me - Oprah
Considering how much her face was all over the 2008 election, taking
trips with Michelle, practically living at the WH. This time around,
not a peep, no endorsement, no fundraising from Oprah. Wonder why? Did she
stop believing in hope and change?
Re: It just dawned on me - Oprah
I actually thought about this too. I googled and found a lot of rumour-type articles, this seemed to be the most legit-

I hadn't seen this article - but that's what I thought the second I saw cat's post. Oprah's 2008 career was in a very different place than her 2012 career.
A lack of visible Oprah never even crossed my mind. Since her show went off the air, I kinda forgot about her. I think the ratings for OWN show most people have. Poor Oprah.
This kinda goes back to the idea that endorsements don't really matter. Be it a celebrity, newspaper, or politician, I don't think they sway people's opinion unless it's a unexpected endorsement. And probably not even then.
Why? Oprah endorsing Obama was about as surprising as Trump endorsing the Republican candidate.
is that true? It doesn't seem like she would appeal to conservatives anyway. She really lost half her audience endorsing Obama? I know her last episode was her highest rated ever.

I loved oprah and was sad to see her go. My mom also loved oprah and stopped watching as soon as her endorsement came out. I honestly don't like when celebs go gaga over candidates regardless of what party they are in. I really don't think they need to be putting that out there.
Not quite.

And it's not only because she endorsed a Democrat, it's also because much of her audience were H. Clinton supporters. Her viewership also went down because of her acceptance of Scientology.
That doesn't say she lost half of her audience though, just that her ratings dropped. Your statement was hyperbolic.
I have no problem with celebrities getting involved in politics. They take a risk of losing fans, of course, but it's their right as a citizen to speak their mind. If they don't mind the backlash from fans of a different opinion, it's no different than anyone.
If I were we'll known, I would definitely use my celebrity to bring light to people and causes I cared about. Without a doubt.
Luckily, good 'ole Oprah doesn't need our pity. Considering she's one of the richest women in the world and all.
