50th Anniversary Ideas

Hello, ladies.  My in-laws are celebrating their 50th anniversary soon and we're are helping to plan a party for them.  I'm looking for something creative to make for the actual party.  Someone is already putting together a book of 50 memories and making a small tree of pictures from throughout the years.  Someone else is doing a picture powerpoint.  I'm really at a loss for what to do.  I don't want there to be too much "busy" stuff, but want to contribute.  Any ideas?  Maybe something unique for favors?  TIA!

Re: 50th Anniversary Ideas

  • What about a playlist of the #1 love song (or any kind of song) each year of the past 50 years?

  • What about an autograph book where party guests can write something about them. You could decorate it like the early 60's when they married. Ask guests to write a remembrance or funny story about the good old days. Would make a nice keepsake.

Or music from when they dated and got married. What was their wedding/reception like? Maybe recreate something from that. Does she still have her wedding dress? Maybe display it at the party.

    I love this idea!

I think they just had a very small wedding and reception b/c they were on a tight budget.  I know she still has her dress, but I don't know if I would want to take it to the party.  I'd be afraid that something would happen to it.

  • I had a florist recreate my mother's wedding bouquet from a photo for my parents 30th anniversary.  She LOVED it.

Or maybe a baker could replicate their wedding cake?

Something else nice that you could do would be to compose a toast to them.

Just to build on this idea, I just threw my dh a 40th bday party and did a "40 things we love about him" and had everyone fill it out. Maybe you can do a "50 things we love about mil & fil"?
