Black Friday

Is starting to turn into black Thursday.  Just saw a store opening at 6 pm on thanksgiving.    I wish stores would stay closed until the next morning.  Even the ones that open at midnight have their employees missing activities with their families b/c they need to rest before work.

Re: Black Friday

  • I know, I saw this... and it really ticks me off.  Thanksgiving should be off limits.
  • Ryan's work is open all day on Thanksgiving, not because b/c of black Friday of course but still they have no problem finding people who want to work on Thanksgiving.

  • It also dosent give the people that are cooking and having people over time to even clean up. My MIL isnt coming to our house (nor will she ever) because she has to meet with her sister to get a plan of attack ready. After dinner is cleaned up they all breakout the circulars and start making lists. They go out at 9pm on Thanksgiving and dont come home until 9 or 10 the next night.

Ha MIL is like that too.  We were there last Thanksgiving and I'm like eh I like sleep more... and I don't feel like bringing more stuff back to MD.

My cousins and I usually go on Black Friday, later after the crazies.  I doubt we will go this year.  One is 8-9 months pregnant, and I just want to spend as much time as I can with my mamaw.  She's slowly declining...

  • I think it's all so crazy. My mom wants to go out in the morning on Black Friday. We've done it before and it's been fun.

We'll see if I feel up to it this year though. If not, she'll still go with my nephew and my sister-in-law.

  • My Mom goes out every year with her mom and sister, but I've probably gone shopping once or twice in my life, including a quick trip to the mall the first year they opened at 2 or 3am.  I hate lines and I hate fighting with people to see the products.  I was actually off work, but told them I'd come in for the morning because I won't be shopping anyhow.  It does suck though for those who love to shop that the really good bargains are now out while you should be spending time with family!

    booo. is Ryan working?

  • It really bothers me. Last year stores opened around midnight, and that made me mad too. I LOVE BF and getting up early on that day and shopping. Last year I felt 'late' at 4am...this year I might just not go bc there will be no fun rush!

  • I have never been shopping on Black Friday, but this post reminded me that I had entertained the thought of going this year because I think I want a DSLR.

Here's what I like to do Janet, and I think it might be right up your alley.  I sit at the bar in Applebees (conveinently located in the outlets) and then at midnight when the outlets open I stumble on over!

And why would that be up my alley, hmmm?  What are you trying to insinuate?

    SIKE!

    It totally is.

  • Chris and I always get up around 8 or so and head to Khol's when the craziests are gone and buy new clothes for each other. The only year we ever went super early was when we got Chase his DS and stood in line for a total of 20 minutes to get our ticket. We left right after that and went to Khol's next door and realized how many deals there are so that tradition started.
