Anger over Obama

Quite a few Americans seem to be outraged about the re-election of Obama. We are seeing outrage displayed in ways that we have never seen under any other President. Do you think people are angry because of his policies, the state of the economy or his race?

Here is a link to show just how angry some people truly are: http://tinyurl.com/bcj59vm

Re: Anger over Obama

  • I disagree with the premise that people are more angry after this election than they have been in the past.  I was incensed when Bush was re-elected.  I was literally seething with rage.  I didn't display it in the idiotic way some are displaying their anger over Obama, but I felt it.

Also, Obama won both the electoral college and the popular vote.  I believe the majority of people in this country are happier with him as president than they would have been with Romney.

In summation, I just see this as sore losers letting their ignorance show.  There always has to be a losing team.  They were on it.  They are sad.  It's nothing new.

  • Republicans were so sure it was in the bag that they are reeling from the loss.

Also, the GOP started planting seeds of discontent and hate towards Obama starting immediately after the 2008 election.  It has been building for 4 years.  And for nothing.  Now they are bitter and angry and didn't get their way.

  • More disturbing than this is the near riot that broke out on Ole Miss's campus.  Almost 400 students were chanting racial slurs about other students and the President.

You would think James Meredith were back at the Lyceum trying to enroll.

  • I agree with Missy - I don't think they're more upset than some past losses, but I do think we have social media and internet that allows every schmuck to share their amplified internet opinion.

For instance, these days it's really easy to sign a succession petition online - someone posts it on your facebook and you pretty much just click on it.  It takes more work to get up and go to the bathroom than to sign an online petition.

Back in the day if you wanted to make an issue of succession you had to rally people, take action, and get noticed.  People would have to put their face out their and give their time, energy, and passion to the cause.  That makes people really think about their decisions and opinions.

  • Just for the gits and shiggles of it, I visited the link.  This is a story of a woman who ran her husband down with their SUV because he didn't vote and she was pi$$ed that Obama won.

A bit (ok maybe more than a bit) ridiculous if you ask me.

I was thinking the same thing.  If I had had a Facebook account when GWB was re-elected I would have authored many angry and explicit status updates.  And I probably would have signed a petition urging him to be tried for war crimes or something.

Regarding this particular link, I'm with Cincy in agreeing it's ridiculous.  That woman is obviously crazy cakes.

IKR? I'm guessing she wasn't stable on Nov 5th.  Nothing changed on the 6th.

My parents both work in Administration at Ole Miss and it was actually about 30-40 students chanting the racial slurs.  The spectating crowd rose to about 400.

  • Maybe they're all angry that their "January 2013- End of an Error" bumper stickers aren't true.

Anybody else remember the "Sore Loseman" bumper stickers posted after the 2000 election that were made to look like the Gore/Lieberman campaign stickers? I was annoyed but found them a little funny.

I feel those outraged are in need of such a bumper sticker.

Ahh.  That's a little more reassuring.
