How much could I sell this for?

We bought a new dining set so I'll be looking at selling our current one.  It is this set:

An espresso pub height table with 8 chairs.  It is quite large; 60x48 and has a butterfly leaf making it 60" square when extended.

It's 4 years old and is in okay condition; some nicks on the chairs and a couple of scratches on the table top.

I'm thinking of asking $250.  Does that seem reasonable?  I've tried looking to see how much similar sets are selling for but can't find anything comparable.

Re: How much could I sell this for?

  • How much did you pay for it? I would say 1/3 of that price.

It also matters where you're thinking of selling it. If I was looking for a dinning set on Craigslist I wouldn't pay more than $100.

  • I wouldn't pay more than $150-200 or so for a dining set on Craigslist, especially if it's only in "okay" condition.  If it doesn't resemble a new set, it shouldn't have anywhere near a new price.

This and furniture on Craigslist usually sells for cheap.

  • You could always list it at $250. If no one bites, you can always lower the price or accept lower offers.

    That's what I would do!
