Cat Door

DH got around to the cat door install today (basement door) and I was wondering how it should take for the cat to use it. I would love to have the litter box down there by Thanksgiving. Thanks.

Re: Cat Door

  • Our cats picked it up pretty quick.  At first, we kept the door part up, so they wouldn't have to push through it to get to the other side. I suggest doing that unless yours doesn't have a door.

Cats are very smart!! It only took us a day! you can use string on one side of the door to lure him through so he sees how to go through.  But cats pretty much know that much.  I would put the box in the basement now if that is where you want it, and take him to it so he knows where it is.  If you see him at the "old" spot, just bring him to the new one.  That worked for us anyway! Good LUck
