Maybe a little public shaming will do that trick. I just don't know what to do with my 2 year old anymore. She's been going through this crappy sleeping phase (night and nap). I decided while things are already crappy we might as well get rid of the binky. It's been about 3 weeks since getting rid of binky and about 2 months since she started sleeping like crap. She is sleeping about 2-3 hours less than she used to. She is a hot MESS during the day. She obviously needs to be getting more sleep. DD is waking up multiple times at night, multiple times at nap. She used to be my superstar sleeper. How do I get her back? I know she needs a nap, so dropping the nap is not an answer. She's like a mean zombie!
Re: What do I do with this kid?
Ugh, my house is a mess too! I feel like i have a newborn baby again. She wanted held all day yesterday. Carrying around a 22 lb 2 year old is not the same as a 7 lb newborn.
i think we have the SAME child! She started doing the same thing. We had no routine change, no sickness, nothing. Just one day she woke at 5:30 and never went back to her normal sleep pattern. She was waking between 5:30 and 6 every morning. She was miserable and so was I. We just suffered through it for months. Then one night we went out and stayed out late. She didn't get to bed til 11. She slept til 7:30 the next morning. Napped like a champ that afternoon. Went to bed at 8 and she was back to something that resembled a more normal life. For the last week or so, she's slept til 7 or 7:30. I'm now hoping that this isn't just another phase. I don't know if the late night had anything to do with it or it was just a coincidence, but I'll take it!
Garrett has been sleeping horribly too! He was also my superstar sleeper. He is waking several times a night, and will generally go back to sleep once we comfort him, but it is still tough after being spoiled for so long. I've tried bringing him into our bed, but he wants no part of it. I'm thinking it's a combination of teething and developmental changes, as he's also been fussy throughout the day and extremely clingy. On the plus side, my arms are getting a nice workout since he is a 22 month old that is the size of a 4 year old. (I think he weighed 22lbs at 6mos, haha!)
I wish I had some tips to share! Mason went through the same thing, but Garrett was a newborn at the time, so yeah, I don't remember too much from that period! I just hope this phase ends soon!
I guess I should be thankful that she's only in the 10% for weight! I think my oldest when through something like this but, like you, Olivia was a newborn at the time and I only remember bits and pieces.
Our daughters are about the same age, so maybe there is something developmental going on. I hope you are out of the woods! Hopefully we are not far behind you.
