Really, what possesses people
Re: Really, what possesses people
I absolutely love irreverent humor. But this isn't it. I don't even understand what she is trying to do/imply in that picture. She just looks like like the biggest dumbasss.
I am on board with your post title - what possesses people? Sometimes it scares me to think of all the stupid walking around.
Yep..what Missy said. Totally ridiculous.
I don't know if the pic on HuffPo was unedited/uncropped from what was initially posted online, but if the sign didn't say Arlington Cemetery on it, the pic wouldn't bother me at all (assuming you couldn't tell where it was taken, which I wouldn't based on the background). Just a dumb@$$ being dumb.
Much like my rebellious self-
baha. (in my defense, that absurd pic is pretty old)
But yeah, why you would think that was a good idea in Arlington... *sigh*
I totally agree with that, Lexi. If it had just been some random "please keep quiet" sign and she took a picture of herself in front of it fake screaming, it would only be seen as another dumb picture.
I don't even necessarily get behind her being reprimanded (even though she was apparently on a business trip), but I just cannot fathom why Arlington National Cemetery is the place she chose to be a dumbasss. I mean, in front of a sign that asked for quiet out of respect...people may be grieving nearby! And not just the fake scream, but the middle finger. Again, I just don't even understand the point or what kind of idiot would think it would be humorous and not disrespectful.
I don't have a copy to show, but I have several pictures of myself doing ridiculous things like touching a sign that says please don't touch, or pretending (I swear!) to pull a fire alarm. So, I know people get stupid.
I think this annoys me so much because there are many people out there who have no boundaries and who are just clueless as to whether something is appropriate or not. It just grinds my gears.
It's pretty obvious that she's making a statement. And it's perfectly in her employer's rights to fire her dumbass for publicizing such an offensive and controversial statement.
Because no matter what anyone thinks Facebook is, it IS public. Don't post anything on it that you wouldn't stand on a pedestal and scream to the world. And I would totally expect to get fired if I were standing outside on a pedestal screaming anti-American things at a crowd.
