A poll re: personal calls at work
I was venting to DH last night about a coworker whose always on the phone for personnal calls. I'm assuming most are to his wife but still, it's like everytime I walk by his office, he's on his cell phone with her. So, humor me. How often do your talk to your DH/SO throughout the work day?[Poll]

Re: A poll re: personal calls at work
On an average day, we chat (less than 5 minutes) 2-3 times a day just to check in and maybe discuss after work plans or dinner for the evening. If I had it my way though, we wouldn't talk at all during the day. I get impatient when DH calls me at work because usually I'm in full "work mode" mindset and I get annoyed when he starts joking or saying irrelevant things while I'm in the middle of doing something. But at the same time, when DH is going through a depressed period (knock on wood...hasn't happened in a while!) I'm afraid not to answer the phone and if I don't hear from him I start to get worried. But still...we keep it at a minimum throughout the day.
Email on the other hand is my go-to. If I need someone/something, I prefer to email over phone if it's a personal matter.
If daycare calls and says we have to pick up DS, I will call DH to figure out which one of us is going to go get him. That's the only time we talk on the phone during the work day. Otherwise, we just text.
I will occasionally make or receive personal calls at work (on my cell - Dr appts, etc) but I step out into the hall for those calls. Most of my coworkers do seem to take a personal call or two throughout the day, but mostly they go out into the hall. One of them is always taking calls in the bathroom stall - don't get me started on that one.

we usually just email each other all day. maybe speak on the phone once per day or so but keep it short (1-2 minutes).
I do think its kind of rude to be on personal calls constantly at work.
DH may call me if work is slow for him and normally that's maybe once or every other day. He will text me most of the time if he needs to talk, or vice versa. Obviously if it's an emergency then he will call me at work and if he can't reach me there, then on my cell.
I personally hate my cell ringing at work, so I have it on vibrate.
