rent-to-own question! help!

Wondering if anyone here has dealt with companies that buy foreclosed homes and then sell them as rent-to-own deals...or specifically a company called Home America?

My H & I fell in love with a house but were unable to get a loan as we need to bump his credit up a bit but it is magically up for sale again, now as rent-to-own. He immediately took it as a sign that we should jump on it since we now have the opportunity to get it. I'm just wanting to make sure we are working with a legit group here. Of course they bump the price up higher than the selling price originally but thats expected.

I've googled them and talked to them on the phone & feel pretty good but would appreciate some reassurance!? :)

Re: rent-to-own question! help!

  • Typically rent to own deals target people who have bad credit or no savings and things can be a bit over priced.  I'm not saying it's the wrong thing to do, but just do your homework.  Often you will be in a much better situation if you just rent, save and buy when you're ready to.
