Roxio Toast

We bought a camcorder last year and we're to the point where we want to put the content on DVDs. I thought this would be simple, but it doesn't seem to be. We have a mac and just to get the video on it we would need to upgrade and get imovies '11. Then I believe we would need to get something like Roxio Toast to get the video onto a DVD. I'm also not for sure if this mac had a DVD burner in it or if it even matters if I'm using Roxio. I'm not tech savvy and not sure how it really works. It sounds like it could be expensive though so I want to make sure I make the right decision.

The camcorder takes video in AVCHD. So anyone who uses Roxio Toast or has any other insight into this situation I would be happy to hear from you.
