Overwhelmed by cookware choices

Please recommend your midranged cookware. Lets face it, I'm not an insanely awesome cook and know that's probably never going to happen for me but I want a quality cookware set that isn't going to break the bank. I started my research and am blown away at the options. I want the convenience of non-stick but the hazardous toxins scare the bejesus out of me. Then I came across ceramic cookware which seems to take care of the green issue but doesn't seem to withhold to careless chefs (which describe both dh and myself).

Does anyone have anything to add to my research thus far? What do you use and love? Thanks so much in advance!

Re: Overwhelmed by cookware choices

  • I got these and love them!  These corningware.  They can be found at walmart/target/ basically anyplace.

We also got Pyrex at target.  We like them.

As far at pots and pans- stainless steel ones that are boring are the ones I use.  I also use a cast iron from IKEA.  I have had it since 2008 and it has yet to chip.  plus it was only $2.00!  My H likes to use 2 cast iron plans.  They are nice, but also harder to clean.

Our kitchen is a hodgepodge of stuff.  You could also check out theknot.com and look at the registries board.  They have a lot of people researching stuff.

    GL!

  • For pots and pans, I have the Emerilware Hard Anodized set from BB&B. I've been using it for 3+ years now and I haven't managed to destroy any of it, which is impressive.

  • for pots and pans: i've never bought a set. I have many diffrent brands, sizes etc.. depending on my needs.

for baking i have a ton of different ones-emile henry, spode, crate & barrell-whatever I've needed over the years.

for dutch ovens and covered bakers I have a few le creuset and some other chantal ones (bought at homegoods).

just because you're not a super chef does't mean you can just beat on your cookware though. no matter how much it is pay attention and take care of it.
