How was your holiday? Any grievances? Funny stories? Crazy relatives?
We were in Texas with my family. All in all, it was a successful Thanksgiving. My parents' house was very crowded: Us, our baby, and our dog; my brother, his fiance, their dog; my sister, her bf, their cat; and my parents and their two dogs. Basically, it was a zoo. Thankfully, the only additional mealtime guests were my dad's parents.
H ended up sleeping downstairs on the living room sofa because we don't sleep well together in a double bed and noisy sleeper DS was in a crib at the foot of the bed. Lol.
My parents have finally wised up and started serving wine at Thanksgiving now that my siblings are older. ![]()
Re: So, how was it?
Not bad at all. We hosted H's side and it went pretty smoothly. Everyone helped clean up and it wasn't awkward with anyone, so that was nice.
My great aunt bought my cousin a baby gift and gave it to her right in front of me...that was really awkward, but oh well. We are due 2 days apart. I got comments from several family members that they were uncomfortable through the whole thing...it didn't really bother me though.
My sister flew home for a few days so it was nice to see her.
We went to Northern Tool and H snagged a couple of tools for cheap that he'd wanted on black Friday. We found the tool set my dad wanted for $50 off the original price, so that was great too. We went really late in the day and there were a ton of great deals. H and I agreed that we aren't buying tiny anything major for christmas this year, and I'm so relieved. After going through his toys, he doesn't need anything major anyway. I'm almost annoyed with myself with how spoiled he is.
We had dinner at my parents' house Thursday night and that was great. A lot less people were there than at the ILs so it was more relaxing (and my mom's food is better ha!). G looooved all the Thanksgiving food and was such an entertainer. I was worried the long day would lead to a grumpy baby but he did great. We got home around 10 Thursday and from that point until this morning we lounged around the house together. The only time I left the house was to get CFA for dinner Saturday night. Awesome. It was so nice having DH home, but he's headed back OOT for work right now. Mondays suck.
ETA: we also got some Christmas shopping done! I took advantage of online black Friday sales and ordered G some things at Carter's, and DH found a ride-on ATV for him on sale at bass pro so we ordered it as well. I still want to get him some "big boy" dishes, but other than that we're done with G's gifts. I also figured out a couple things to get DH, so I'm going to check out the cyber Monday deals on those websites when I get home. I'm also hoping to get my sister's gift and our Christmas cards ordered tonight. Cyber Monday makes me happy
We had a great Thanksgiving. It was pretty hectic, but overall it was great. My mom and I were busy cooking the days before and I did have to deal with some sister-in-law drama while I was there. But M had a wonderful time being with her cousins so I can't complain.
My mom, my sister, and I did do some Black Friday shopping and I got M's big gift out of the way and bought me some awesome sheets for really cheap.
But I was really happy to get back home to my own bed.
Ours was good. We drove down to my parent's house in Texas Thursday morning. Nothing too crazy to report. We spent Saturday with H's family, which is always incredibly boring for me... but oh well. H had fun, so that was good. Came back home yesterday, and now I'm sitting at work feeling utterly lazy and useless while I count down the days until Christmas break.

Bloggy
I did nothing. NOTHING.
I went out Wednesday night and got accidently drunk. And by "went out" I mean, I went to dinner with a friend. While getting ready I somehow polished off half a bottle of wine. I was feeling quite saucy, so when my friend picked me up, I took the bottle with me and had a bit more on the way to dinner. Then two more glasses of wine. And barely ate. Then met up with more friends, had more wine, and half a pack of cigarettes. DRUNK. Spent Thanksgiving day in bed until noon and wanting to die the rest of the day. I eventually made it to Cracker Barrel later on that evening. But still. It was a total waste of a day. Loved it.
Splendid! We spent Thanksgiving day with H's dad's side of the family, and that was fun. It was low-key - everyone brought stuff, and sat around in different places and ate. I liked that quite a bit. The next day we spent at my folks', which was a little more hectic - we had my aunts and uncle over, which was unusual. We had a death in the family last month, so I knew it would be a little different this year. We also had my parent's foreign exchange students over as well, and they were pretty awesome. Both from Ethiopia, fairly Americanized now, but still very humbling to talk to them. Anyway, that was more formal-ish, but still fun.
Recipe?? Pwease.
It was a Pinterest find. Here's the link. Sorry it's not clicky. I'm on my phone.

We had dinner with my family and it was pretty low key. Some jerk broke into our car and stole our iPod and charger but nothing else. Car wasn't damaged, so I must have left it unlocked (drives me crazy because I am super OCD about beeping the car alarm 99% of the time). The iPod was old but it still sucks knowing someone was in our car. Told DH if we ever got another iPod, I'm going to get "My breath smells like farts" engraved on it so they'll be stuck with that or we can identify it easily if it ever shows up in a pawn shop.
