If you are chopping down your Christmas tree...

When are you going to get it?  We normally go the first Saturday of December, but this year that just seems so early.  Part of me wants to wait until the following weekend, but part of me really likes the 50 degrees for Saturday I saw the news today.

Re: If you are chopping down your Christmas tree...

  • We always go this Sat and we will again. Most likely Hozaks where we went last year. I took notes so I would remember -- we liked the frazier fir that we got & it was around $50. But to get hot chocolate you had to drive down the street which was a pain. ALso we got there early & it was packed by the time we left (10-11 ish?). FYI. Other option is ALlison's Tree Farm but I remember we really had to hike to get the frazier firs. Frankly I would forego chopping down this year b/c we don't have alot of time but DH says its a must! If its going to be 50 it will be much easier to take all 3 without totally bundling up!

We are going to Hozaks too!  We used to go to Allisons but they didn't have trees last year.  We went to Hozaks for the first time last year.  Don't forget, the trees are cash only.  We need special nestie hats to wear, so that if we see each other we can say hi.

  • we're not chopping ours down this year, but we do get a live tree, so I was wondering when to get ours, too.  I don't want it to look yucky by Christmas, so I'm hesitant to do it this weekend, but next weekend feels so late.  Decisions, decisions........

  • We got ours at Grupps Christmas Tree Farm in Portersville.  Not too far of a hike; lots of options.  $45 for trees under 8 ft.  And there is a little gift shop with hot chocolate too.

If you are looking for a place, we really like McTighes on Route 8. Nice selection and reasonable which is amazing since we never got a tree until the weekend before Christmas since we left it up until mid-January for Orthodox Christmas and we get a 9+ ft tree. Plus they cut and bundle.

  • We are going to Hozaks this weekend too!!
  • We're probably going to go next weekend. We always go to Buchanan's--which is actually right up the road from Hozaks. It's smaller, and much less crowded. They have one little building to pay for your tree, get hot chocolate and treats. They also sell some ornaments and decorations. The only downside is that they don't have the trees separated by type--but we just pick the tree that we like, regardless of type. I don't remember the price, but I do remember that they told me they haven't raised prices in 3 years. They're also pet friendly so we take our dog (on a leash). http://www.christmastreeco.com/christmas-tree-farm.html

I think you are right. Their website says they specialize in white pine and blue spruces.
