Let's talk Vacation for 2013!!

Where are you vacationing at next year? 

I need some inspiration for next year that is kid friendly and that is not Ocean City. Hubby doesn't care for OC at all.

We are going on a Caribbean cruise in February w/ my family. I don't think I would choose that, but they're paying so I'll go for it! We are doing our normal week in SC w/ DH's family in July. We will probably go Marco Island for a week (?) in August or early September We have discussed going to Disney in November for DD's 5th birthday (YIKES) but that will be very pricey, so I'm not sure if it will happen or not.

We'll be doing a week in the outerbanks with family. Not sure exactly when, though. Our cousin wants to go in June,but that really doesn't work for me - it's the week before a big conference and I tend to have a lot of committee stuff to do that week.

We're super lame and probably not going on a big vacation next year.  I'm hoping that DH and I will be able to renovate our terrible kitchen next year and that's going to suck up every available penny we can throw at it.  I think the plan is for us to try to use our vacation time so we can do most of the work ourselves because we really want to take a more hands on approach on the home improvement projects.

We had a very pleasant stay down OC this past fall during Sunfest, so we will probably just go there again. Money is kind of tight now and once we get all caught up on our bills, we won't have very much room to spend elsewhere. That and I work a ton in the summer, more than most teachers probably do, and I get no time off without taking a major pay cut.

I have thrown the following: the Outer banks, Myrtle Beach and now possible to the Great Smoky Mountains. DH is leaning together the Great Smoky Mountains. He is worried that at the beach we would be chasing after a toddler who will be eating sand the entire time.  Plus we couldn't agree on a destination beach yet.

Oh and DH wanted to hold off on planning a vacation because of my job, but seeing that no decisions have been made and most likely won't be made until well after the new year, we decided to plan for something anyway.

I think we are doing a trip with DH's family. We did Sandbridge with them before, and that was nice. Now they want to do Deep Creek, which I am kind of eh about. I've been to Deep Creek before. I would rather go to the beach.

We have a trip to OBX planned for August with my family. We are waiting to 100% commit to it until we know when/if we will be expecting again. If we don't go on that trip, I doubt we'll go anywhere.

We're really big into our yearly vacations, so I'm hoping that we'll be able to get away somewhere tropical for a few days in Feb/March before the baby arrives in June.  Otherwise, I am going to be one grumpy momma in the fall!

We have absolutely nothing planned, but since we just got back from 10 days in Disney a few weeks ago, I can't really complain. I'd definitely like to do something next summer, though. 

A few years ago we traveled with friends to Emerald Isle, NC. It was fun, but they had an 8-month old and swore that after that trip, they'd never again travel to the beach with a baby. There was just so much crap to haul down to the beach each day (though we stayed on the beach itself, it's still a long walk down from the house to the sand, and we couldn't leave stuff set up overnight), sand got into every crevice of his body, etc. EI is lovely and we'd like to travel with them again sometime, but I don't think next summer's going to be it for us - I'd like to wait until Liam is a bit older.

I'm thinking of trying to do a trip to Deep Creek, actually. It's a shorter trip than the Carolinas and there's more to do than just the beach activities at the lake. We'll see, though.  

ETA: Oh, I'm probably traveling to SC in March for my cousin's wedding, but that won't be as much a vacation as a family obligation. I hate Myrtle Beach.

We are doing our usual week in August in Ocean City, MD. We love it there (I know I'm in the minority on the board, ha ha). We stay on the beach and have one of those beach carts to lug our stuff down to the beach so it's great.

I have no clue. We've talked about doing a road trip through California, Oregon and Washington in the fall but we still have to figure that out. I think we're going to have my friend's bachelorette party in Charleston in April and then her wedding is in Bethany Beach in May so we'll have a long weekend there. I don't consider that a vacation though.

We're going to Arizona again in May for my friend's wedding, though that's less of a vacation than it is an obligation. And then we'll probably go back for Christmas...

However, we are going to an all-inclusive in Cancun in August for my birthday :-)  I'm sure we'll go to OC for a weekend or two, as well.

We're going to the Outerbanks in May with DH's family.  Other than that I don't think we'll have any other major trips planned.  I'm sure we'll go to NY to see DH's family a few times but I don't really consider that a true vacation.
