Baby/toddler activities

Can we tell I'm getting a little stir crazy??

I need suggestions of things to do with Graham. Play dates/hanging with other moms are great, but it's pretty hard to coordinate schedules with most of my mom friends. Most of them work PT like me, or have more than one kid's activities to get to, or are just plain busy.

We've started going to the library on Tuesdays for their "Lap sit" time for little ones, and I tried a Gymboree class today. Gymboree was great, but it's not free :)

We're in Edmond, and I work Mon and Wed. Help!

Re: Baby/toddler activities

  • Have you tried Meetup.com?  You might be able to find a group near you for SAHMs that might have activities you could participate in around your schedule.

  • I'm no help----you just described the problems I ran into this summer when I was tired of being home and looking for something to do.  I don't know many SAHMs, and the ones I do know don't live very close to me and it's hard to coordinate schedules, and everything else costs $$ and gets expensive quickly.

Are there any other age appropriate activities for G at the library?

  • Have you looked into MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)?  It's for moms with kids under 5 and it's lots of fun.  There is a small cost, but it's pretty minimal for what you get I think.  Most groups meet twice a month and we do crafts and have speakers and talk to adults :). Plus, my kids really enjoy it too.  And they have activities throughout the month like playdates and Mom's nights and things too. I really enjoy it.

I also think its ok to go to the library for things even if g is a little young for them.  I really did that with my g because we were there for the bigs and I think she got more out of "kids watching" than I expected

  • I was going to suggest Gymboree...  Brynn loves it and I am fixing to enroll Blaine.  Playtime is unlimited right now so you can attend multiple classes each week.

The Science Museum has a infant/toddler area that I have been told is really neat.  I keep meaning to go.

Brynn enjoyed going to the zoo even under a year old and the weather is still so nice!

There is a greenhouse over by Belle Isle, (Calverts maybe) a mom told me that she has taken her kids on a tour there (free and off the beaten path). A great way to explore new textures.
