Comeongetdown

I wash my down comforter in my top load on gentle.  It's a whirlpool large capacity.

I have to run it through the spin cycles twice though to get the extra water out.  Then when I put it in the dryer I toss in clean tennis balls to help distribute the down so it doesn't get clumpy and dried evenly.    I do the same for my down pillows.

I have to warn you the pillows totally grossed me out the first time I washed them.  They are northern nights and are supposedly the "cleanest" down used in the industry and the first time I washed them there was actually sand and grit in the washer from the pillows.

Re: Comeongetdown

  • Thanks!

The washer in our apartment has a 'Color' cycle (it says it 'normal') and a 'Whites' cycle (it says 'pulses') and that's it aside from load size and water temp choices. lol you know, cheap apartment appliances. I'll probably try it on the whites cycle and see how it does. Worst case scenario, it's an old comforter, hubs has an extra one and we have a bunch of BB&B gift cards left from the wedding lol

I REALLY need to wash our pillows. They're not down, the last down ones we had must have been cheapies because the feathers would stick through the pillow and stab me in the face and I got so tired of it I got rid of them.
