Recommend your kid-friendly sofa

I have small children and two decently behaved cats. I want a sofa that is comfortable and durable (and looks good!), and I'd rather not spend a lot (not more than $1500 for a sofa or $3000 for a sectional), because I feel like even if it is durable, it's going to get a pretty good beating over the next several years (I don't want to be heart broken when accidents happen and with a baby on the way I'm sure it will be puked on within the first two months of use).

Any recommendations? Washing slipcovers is a bit of a pain, so I've been looking at leather, but I'm still not sure which way to go. I've had microfiber before and it did not mix well with the cats.

I'm really open style wise. We are moving into our first home soon, and the living room is pretty much starting from scratch. I have very little experience with design, so I don't have strong likes and dislike established (yet).

Re: Recommend your kid-friendly sofa

  • leather doesnt mix well with cats either and once they start to wear....they look bad.. We have the extorp series sofa/loveseat from Ikea and love them, they are comfy, easy to change the covers if you want to wash or replace them and its a lot cheaper to just replace a cover then to replace a whole couch! (We got the blue so that doesn't show wear/dirt as fast).
  • I have had my This Ends Up couch for 10 years, and the best thing is that you can always refinish it or get new cushions when you want a change.  Crate furniture is definitely not for everyone, but I love my sofa.

  • It is good to have such sitting arrangement that can give the relaxation and feel the kids comforts...

    Lead Pipe Replacement

  • We have this one from JCP. We bought it 3 years ago right before DD#1. It has survived spit up, wine, numerous parties/gatherings, and the daily wear and tear a 3 year old does to furniture. We've had the slip covers dry-cleaned, we've spot cleaned them, and finally got brave enough just to throw the whole cover in the gentle cycle. All of that, and it still looks as good as new. I'm contemplating buying a slip cover in another color so I can change out the look of my LR for the seasons.
