What kind of fabric is this?
I want to make this pillow for my friend, but I can't figure out what kind of fabric to use for the background. It looks like fleece of some sort, but not the normal "smooth" kind. Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for?

I'd just head over to a fabric store in person and see what looks right to you. Fleece probably wouldn't be the best for a pillow since it's so stretchy. Definitely use interfacing if you end up with a stretchy fabric.
It looks to me like a sherpa fabric.
