Finding a pet sitter

My DH and I are going out of town for a few days and want to have someone stop in to clean litter and refill water/food for our cats. We are new to the area and don't know many people. Also, the people we do know are mostly students that my DH is in law school with, and most of them will be going home for winter break. We found a few pet sitters (companies rather than individuals) in the area and are looking into them, but how do we know they are good? Any recommendations on finding a good pet sitter would be helpful.

(I thought about posting on my local board, but it seems to be dead. But if anyone reading this in from Winston-Salem, NC and knows good pet sitters, please let me know!)

Re: Finding a pet sitter

  • I can't believe I am reading this and live in Winston Salem. I highly highly recommend Ann and Julie at Three Pooches. Several of my friends use their service too. Tell them Jeanna (Winston the pug's mom) sent you :)

  • Ha! So funny! I'm glad that I posted where I was. They were one of the ones on our list, so I'm glad that you mentioned someone I had already. Thanks so much!
  • Call some local vet offices and see who they recommend.
