Does anyone have an issue with their crockpot smelling after cooking certain meals? I made salsa chicken about a month ago and I cannot get the smell out of the lid or the pot. I made H yogurt a week ago and the yogurt tasted like salsa yogurt. I scrubbed everything down with soap, water and baking soda and the smell is still there. I made another batch and it still tasted like salsa chicken. Then I went and got those crockpot bags and it still tastes like salsa! The pot wont smell when I first clean it, but once I put the lid back on and store it the smell comes back out. Also it really comes out when its cooking. I'm giving the lid another baking soda scrub down. Any other tips as to what I can do?

Re: Crockpot smell help
I never use my dishwasher so maybe I should throw it in for a cycle. The lid is ok to put in there too right?
I throw both in there without issues
I always put the pot and the lid in the dishwasher. Like Mana, I've never had a problem with it smelling.

I make salsa chicken a lot, too, and have never had a smell issue.
Isn't vinegar suppose to remove odors from things?
I just grew up without one and we always washed things by hand so thats what I got used to. I tried to use it a few times but its just very time consuming and by the time all the dishes go in, the cycle runs and then I have to unload and put away I would have already washed the dishes anyway. We always wash all the dishes after every meal so there is never even enough dishes to wash to justify running the washer for energy and water purposes.
I'm pretty sure I dont have enough dishes to last us 2 days ha ha We do use it though if we have a party or a holiday event where we have people over and dont want things to pile up but on a day to day we just do it.
I grew up without one too and my parents redid their kitchen a few years ago and STILL didn't put one in... *headdesk*
I just feel like it santizes more since the water gets hotter than what comes out of the sink. H pre-washes everything and then we run it through the dishwasher when it's full. We have enough dishes since I had dishes, H had dishes and now we got a new set as a wedding gift.
