feeling like a generic cook
I look at all the weekly meals on here and have never made 90% of these things. Other than tacos I've never made anything mexican. I don't cook anything with herbs. Anyone have some great beginner recipes? I try to make things that take 30 minutes or less prep time, even if it takes a couple hours to cook. I seem to alwasys make the same 10-20 things over and over though. I'm currently without a crockpot since mine broke. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I love white chicken chili on cold evenings. It's a little spicy but super delicious. I can cook about 3 things and this is one of them, so it's definitely not hard.
this is me too!
Me three!! DH and I sit down together and scan through the "food and drink" category and pin things that look good to us. We keep track of the ones that are good by putting them in our recipe book and delete the ones that we won't make again.
As for trying to cook with herbs, just try adding different ones to recipes you already make until you get familiar with ones you like and what goes good with certain dishes.
TTC since June 2012
ditto! I started making a ton of stuff from pinterest, which helped me become a lot more comfortable to branch out on my own.
