Cat eating fake Christmas tree
Ever since we put up our artificial Christmas tree, my cat will not stop taking needles off and eating them. I didn't have a tree last year for various reasons, but this is not the first time I've had a Christmas tree with her. However, this is the first time she's eating it and I have no idea what to do. I've tried spraying her with water, spraying the tree with anti-chewing bitter taste spray, firmly telling her "no!". I'm afraid if she doesn't stop, she's going to end up with an intestinal blockage and need surgery. Help!
Re: Cat eating fake Christmas tree
..I had the same issue with my two cats. This is the first year I've had a tree with my older cat (year and half) and my kitten is 3 months old. Oddly enough, the kitten started doing it first and the older cat followed suit.
Anyways, I tried the spray bottle, like you did, and it worked for the older cat. We've used it before with him when he was misbehaving so he knew eating the tree was bad. With the kitten though, he didn't get the same message. So, I took a soup can and put a few pennies in it and shook whenever I caught him eating the tree. (Got this from a friend). The noise startles him and soon enough, he stopped doing it. Works too for when the kitten is misbehaving. For whatever reason, the spray bottle didn't phase him.
Good luck!

One of my cats does this, and we find needles in hair balls now and again.
We just purchased the cat scram off of Amazon. If the pp's trick doesn't work, try that. I am seriously contemplating another one (we bought ours for the kitchen), so that maybe we can decorate our tree like normal people.
