Re: How was your weekend?

  • Highs? I saw The WHO Lows? nothing I can think of, I guess the Raven's losing but it really doesn't get me to upset Eat/make anything good? the new Mission BBQ in Perry Hall, awesome Watch anything good? I'm trying to watch all the Christmas movies I can so I did get in the Santa Clause (and now I can move on to Santa Clause II) Read anything good? No FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? I really want to get done Christmas shopping/wrapping early enough to enjoy other aspects of the holiday What are you looking forward to this week? I'm hosting an alumni happy hour tomorrow night
    • Highs? Had a great dinner at Melting Pot with DH and friends last night. Also went to Brookside Gardens for the Christmas lights Saturday night.
    • Lows? Not necessarily bad but we put an application in on a dog at the SPCA and we were approved but Gracie and him did not get along at all. Also it really sucked coming back to work today after having a week off.
    • Eat/make anything good? Melting Pot last night was great and also went to a bbq place we always went to when I was a kid.
    • Watch anything good? Caught up on Homeland.
    • Read anything good? Didn't pick up my book.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? Comment: We're waiting to hear back from someone about adopting another dog and I've been constantly refreshing my emails. I'm driving myself crazy.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Nothing really this week except the weekend.
  • Highs? Got the tree up.

    Lows? Didn't clean.

Eat/make anything good? An Auntie Anne's pretzel at the mall really hit the spot.

Watch anything good? I watched the Matt Damon Bourne movies and MIB3 this weekend.

Read anything good? Still working on Celebrity in Death, hoping to finish it today.

FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? Minor Vent: I really wish my husband would put his dishes into the dishwasher. I spend 10 minutes putting away the clean dishes, loading the dirty ones from the sink into the machine, and 20 minutes later come back to find his crap in the sink. It drives me nuts.

What are you looking forward to this week? It being over.

  • Highs? Pretty low key weekend. Our business is still going well/growing so that is exciting.
Lows? My family went to Chili's for dinner on Saturday and I didn't go because DH wouldn't be home in time (trying to be a good wife and hang out with him instead) and he proceeded to fall asleep after being home for only 30 minutes.  I know he was tired so I understand but I should've gone to dinner lol
Eat/make anything good? We went to CPK for dinner on Friday.  I love their Mediterranean Egg Rolls and Tostada Pizza.
Watch anything good? We watched The Dark Knight Rises.  It was ok but I was a little disappointed.  I absolutely loved The Dark Knight and it just didn't compare.
    Read anything good? Nope
FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? Stupid vent: I am really upset that 666 Park Ave was cancelled.  I love those kind of shows and they always get cancelled.  I knew the masses wouldn't love it but I was hoping for at least two seasons!  I have several opportunities at work and I still don't know what to do (pay and physical location are the same).  A. Stay where I am, where I am confident and comfortable, with an awesome schedule B. Challenge myself with something completely different with who knows what kind of schedule or C. Do something that I've wanted since I started with the company, relatively stable schedule with weekends off, but with a pretty large time commitment in the beginning.  I need to make a decision by tomorrow and I really don't know what to do.  DH said whatever makes me happy but I'm not sure what that is at this moment.
What are you looking forward to this week? My parents are taking DH and I to dinner at a place of our choosing since my sister's family won't be coming. I can't decided where to go but I'm excited. In case you haven't noticed, I love food. :)

    • Highs? I saw my niece at a Christmas event my work hosted at the Hyatt in Cambridge on Saturday. I also have a new niece, as her mother went into labor just a couple hours after I saw them on Saturday afternoon. For dramatic family reasons, I'm having a hard time getting excited about the baby, though. I'll probably be more excited when I meet her on Christmas day.
    • Lows? My husband's back pain is not getting better. I'm trying to be sympathetic and understanding, but it gets really frustrating for me, too. He had an MRI on Friday, so we'll see what the doctor says.
    • Eat/make anything good? We're having a Christmas party on Saturday, so I started prepping for that yesterday. I made peppermint brownie bites and spinach tarts and frozen them. I also made a spinach and artichoke strata yesterday for dinner, and it was tasty.
    • Watch anything good? I caught up on New Girl, Big Bang Theory, and The Mindy Project last night. I've also been catching holiday movies here and there -- White Christmas was on at the gym this morning; I've actually never seen it. Now I want to go on Netflix and watch it!
    • Read anything good? I'm currently reading The Third Gate by Lincoln Child. Easy read, not too bad.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? I really wish I was more excited about my new niece. It's not her fault what she's born into. But this is the 6th child between the two of them, they're not married (both divorced from other people), she hasn't had a job in probably 8 or so months (she was fired from her job and doesn't have a high school diploma), and they don't have space in their house -- actually, her mom's house -- for another child. I don't think they do anything to stop themselves from having children, and it's so frustrating to me. My BIL is about 7 years older than my DH, and started having kids around age 17 or 18, so the oldest is 19 years old and his stepdaughter is 18 -- and neither of those daughters have finished their high school degrees. I want my DH and I to be a good influence on these children, but it's really hard to be around the parents for too long.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Exciting week for me! Happy hour tonight with friends, last day at my job tomorrow, day off on Wednesday, starting my new job on Thursday, holiday party at my boss's house on Friday night, and our holiday party on Saturday!
  • Highs? Watching DD at her ballet birthday party on Saturday - she was so happy and had a blast. Lows? Nothing really - coming back to work today? DH's chronic sinus/ear infection whatever is getting on my nerves and while I sympatheisize that he doesn't feel well, etc. I miss him when he goes to bed at 8 pm every night. Eat/make anything good? Lots of yummy party food yesterday when we had DD's family party for the Ravens/Skins game. Watch anything good? I started watching 30 Rock from the beginning. Read anything good? Working my way through Wuthering Heights. Its good FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? I'm slightly annoyed at my MIL. She offered to bring wings to our family party yesterday - which was fine. And, then DH and I went to Costco and bought a bunch of other stuff. MIL ended up bringing 2 boxes of wings, deviled eggs, cheese, crackers, veggies and dip, chips, and some other random things. I appreciate that she did that, but at the same time, its a little obnoxious because we have to set out dishes for it and we bought food for the party that we now wasted money on b/c there's too much food, we ended up throwing out a bunch of stuff. Next time, I'm going to ask her exactly what she's bringing. I think she also made my mom feel bad b/c my mom didn't bring anything.

I didn't love The Dark Knight Rises nearly as much as I loved Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

I think I loved The Dark Knight because of Heath Ledger.  Had he not been the Joker, I probably wouldn't have loved that one either. Chae would mention something from Batman Begins and it would sound familiar but I guess the movie just wasn't memorable.  I do love the idea of a spinoff/sequel with Joseph Gordon Levitt.

    • Highs? Took DS to see Santa on Saturday and even though he didn't want to sit on his lap, it was still a success. Then we went to a party with all the daycare parents and it was less awkward than last year so I call it a win. On Sunday there was an impromptu family nap which was nice.
    • Lows? I am getting over DS's cold which he gave me last week.
    • Eat/make anything good? Nothing remarkable.
    • Watch anything good? More catching up with SOA and HIMYM.
    • Read anything good? No.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? I was all gung ho to start Christmas shopping 2 weeks ago, but I didn't know what to buy. I ordered a few things over the weekend but I still have a ways to go!! I also have several more projects to work on and I feel like time is running out!
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Making some progress on Christmas stuff. Going to ILs on Saturday to make cookies.

    • Watch anything good? um no
    • Read anything good? nope
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? I'm almost done Christmas shopping and I hope to get the wrapping done this week.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Annabelle and I plan to bake some cookies on Wednesday. My work is having our Christmas lunch on Friday. This weekend we plan to take the girls the B&O railroad museum to see Santa.

Heath Ledger absolutely made that movie. He did such an incredible job. I just let my boss borrow the first two, but I'm anxious to get them back so that I can re-watch them myself.

Like you, I like the idea of a spin-off with JGL. I know Bale is done with the movies, and I hated the idea of any without him, but if JGL is going to be the focus, I'm good with that.

  • I had a great weekend!! My friend from FL came up to visit and we had a fun-filled weekend!!

Fri- we went to HH in CP and watched the MD soccer game with a bunch of my students...kinda awkward :)

Sat- we went downtown and rode bikes and went into some of the museums. We got dinner at Good Stuff (yumm) and then went to see the National Christmas Tree

Sun- we went to brunch in Annapolis and it was amazing! Then headed over to a friends house to watch the great Redskins game!    Took her back to the airport and then I crashed.  The only low is that I'm still tired :)

We went to Yellowfin. The food was really good, and you could choose from breakfast, dinner, desserts, soup, carved beef, some fish, some side salads (potato and macaroni) and of course bottomless mimosas!
