Hi Everybody, I'm your new neighbor :)

Hello!

I posted here several weeks ago about possibly relocating to the Milwaukee area, and I accepted the job I was offered there, so DH and I will be your new neighbors :)  We only know one other couple in Milwaukee, so I'll definitely need advice from you ladies for everything from great beauty parlors to restaurants to, well, EVERYTHING!

I'm excited to be relocating to such a friendly, fun area. We loved Milwaukee when we visited and we got a great overview from a realtor that showed us around.  Our apartment is near Brady Street, any highlights I should know about??

TIA to you all :)

Re: Hi Everybody, I'm your new neighbor :)

  • Welcome to WI.  Your aprtment is in a really fun area.  You should be able to find lots of things to do especially if you enjoy food and drinking.

  • Welcome! You're in a great part of town, especially for newcomers.  In your neighborhood, I would highly recommend Trocadero (brunch, any other meal, drinking, etc.), the Good Like (great restaurant), Cempazuchi (Mexican) and Brocagh (Irish Pub).  Shank Hall is near there and is a great place for live music.

I take a tap dance class once a week at Danceworks, right near where Water St. turns into Brady.  They have all kinds of adult classes, if you're so inclined.

For a good flavor of Wisconsin experience, you should cross the river to Lakefront Brewery.  Go on the brewery tour for sure.  The fish fry is good too.

Post whenever you have specific questions!

  • Like the others posted, it's a nice neighborhood for food and drinks. My brother lives off Brady and they walk everywhere they go. There is almost every kind of food you can imagine within walking distance and shopping all along Brady. My (hopefully) soon to be sister in law works at a salon right off of Brady and Farwell.   www.onmilwaukee.com is a great website for ideas in the area.
  • Thanks to everyone for the tips!  We love to eat and go out, and I will check out this salon!

  • Great location! You will love exploring Brady Street area and the rest of Milwaukee. Welcome!

  • Welcome to Milwaukee. I'm a transplant also and I love the lower east side area! Like PPs have said, there are a lot of great little restaurants and shops in that area.
