Re: A poll to get things moving!
1. Favorite Christmas Song(s): Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is you"
2. Least Favorite Christmas Song(s): I think we all know the answer to this one. Go away, Christmas Shoes.
3. Favorite Christmas Memory: Last year, we were taking pictures of the kids in front of the tree. Totally unprompted, Jake gave Liam a big hug and said, "Merry Christmas, baby Liam. I love you so much. I'm so happy Santa came to our house today, aren't you?" Right before that happened, I was snapping pictures, looking around at the explosion of toys/wrapping paper/packaging on the floor, thinking about how I needed to go start some food in the kitchen, set the table, etc....but then they did that, and it just stopped me in my tracks. I know it's cheesy, but it really, really made me think about what I wanted the day to mean to our family.
4. What gift are you most excited about giving? we bought the kids a new play kitchen, it wasn't on Jake's list, so I think they're both going to be really excited and surprised.
5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? um...my laundry sorter? Sad, I know. But really, I'm excited about it! I'm also hoping for amazon gift cards so I can treat myself to Kindle books that aren't available on library lending
6. What are your Christmas plans? It's going to be like Christmas vacation in our home pretty soon; next Friday night, my SIL and her boyfriend are coming in from Colorado, and staying for 9 days. Next Sunday, my IL's arrive, and they are staying for a week. So we'll all be around Christmas morning, then my parents will come up around lunch time. My brother and his wife are still a question mark, they're trying to figure out their plans, but they might join us, too. we'll eat dinner around 4pm. I'm so excited!!
7. New Year's plans? All of our company will have just left, so we'll probably enjoy some quiet family time. Last year, we went to Red Robin to cash in my birthday burger, so maybe we'll do that again.Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
1. Favorite Christmas Song(s): O Holy Night, All I Want For Christmas Is You, and pretty much any classic Christmas song. I also like Feed The World/Do they know it's Christmas. A lot of people don't like that song, but I remember the year it came out, and my mom bought me the 45 of the single. Yes, a 45!
2. Least Favorite Christmas Song(s):Christmas Shoes Song, Dominic the Donkey, and any other silly Christmas song.
3. Favorite Christmas Memory: Tie between the year I got the Barbie Dream House and the year I got my Cabbage Patch Doll (when no one could get them, but fortunately my aunt was dating the manager of a toy store).
4. What gift are you most excited about giving? I'm excited for Mason to get his scooter, because he has been asking for one forever.
5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? I didn't really ask for anything too exciting this year.
6. What are your Christmas plans? We host dinner at our house for our immediate families. This year we have a few friends joining us as well, who didn't have plans for the holiday, so I am looking forward to the extra people!
7. New Year's plans? We keep NYE low key, but I do always like to do something. This year we are having some friends over to celebrate. This poll is Christmas focused, but feel free to change if you celebrate another holiday this time of year! (Hey, maybe I should start a war on Christmas post...
)
1. Favorite Christmas Song(s): anything that was in the charlie brown special. never ceases to make me smile.
2. Least Favorite Christmas Song(s): christmas shoes and that other one with the frozen food isle romance.
3. Favorite Christmas Memory: Christmas since having EJ has been so much more fun. The magic is back and it is no longer just a headache of a holiday. So any one since having her.
4. What gift are you most excited about giving? Millennium Falcon bottle opener for Kev.
5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? a kitchen compost bucket! hahaha. I am a dork. Plus I don't know what else I am getting.
6. What are your Christmas plans? Hosting christmas day. may spend christmas eve with neighbors
7. New Year's plans? We traditionally do NYD pajama brunch with friends, and then go to another friends house for pork and kraut in the evening.
Also, I am pro-"Happy Holidays" wishes being given at stores during this month. hahaha
1. Favorite Christmas Song(s): O Holy Night
2. Least Favorite Christmas Song(s): Christmas Shoes
3. Favorite Christmas Memory: I don't have one single one that stands out, but I think this year is going to be awesome. I love the ages of the kids -- Lanna is so excited and it's fun to watch her teach Wes our traditions now that he's starting to get it too.
4. What gift are you most excited about giving? For Lanna, her Baby Butterscotch b/c she really wants it. For Wes, his train set.
5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? DH and I originally weren't going to do gifts, but then we decided to buy a Kindle Fire HD for the "family" at the last minute. I'm excited to get some eBooks, and I think DH is excited to get his iPad back from the kids every now and then. There are constant iPad fights between the kids lately.
6. What are your Christmas plans? Christmas Eve I'll have my ILs for dinner and we'll do their gifts. Christmas morning we'll do our own gifts at home, then do my family gifts at my parents' after. Then we run to the IL's to see cousins for a bit, then go back to my brother's for dinner. It's crazy, but as long as it doesn't snow it's not that bad. I'm hoping that an upside of Wes's nap strike is that we won't have to waste 2 hrs in the middle of it all at home this year.
7. New Year's plans? None yet. We don't like to go out for NYE. I'm hoping maybe something will be happening in our neighborhood so we can socialize close to home.1. Favorite Christmas Song(s): I don't think I can pick just one. I love anything my main man Bing Crosby sings, though.
2. Least Favorite Christmas Song(s): Christmas Shoes!
3. Favorite Christmas Memory: back in the day I wanted a bald Cabbage Patch Kid SO bad. They were hard to find and over the summer at a big flea market thingy, my aunt bought one right in front of me "for her friend's granddaughter". She said he had given her the money to buy one if she saw it. So cruel, right? Turns out, it was really for ME and because they were so hard to come by she had to buy it right then and there or it would have been gone. When I opened him up on Christmas Eve, I just sat and cried and cried. I was so happy and crying so hard, that I think everyone else in the room cried, too.
4. What gift are you most excited about giving? We got Noah a Nintendo DS, but I keep telling him that he already has a kindle so I highly doubt Santa's bringing him a DS and I don't want him to be disappointed. He's going to be really, really excited and surprised.
5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? I don't know what I'm getting...
6. What are your Christmas plans? Christmas Eve at our house with my family, Christmas morning kids see what Santa brought and my parents/brother come over for breakfast. We go to inlaws later in the day...we get there around 3pm.
7. New Year's plans? Probably go to my BFF's house. We do that every year, just a small house party. The kids are all old enough now to hang until midnight, and they think it's awesome to stay up so late.
1. Favorite Christmas Song(s):
barenaked ladies and sarah mclachlan singing God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
2. Least Favorite Christmas Song(s):
"Same Old Lang Syne"
I do a big eye roll every time I hear, "Met my old lover in the grocery store..."
3. Favorite Christmas Memory:
We went downtown every year with my cousins to see the Santa Clause's at PPG and to see Santa at Kaufmann's. Santa's village at Kaufmann's was the best.
4. What gift are you most excited about giving? This is the first year my youngest dd is starting to understand the whole thing and she asked for a Stuffie. She asks every day about Santa and her Stuffie. I think it's a really stupid toy but I can't wait to see her face.
5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? I'm not really sure what I am getting. I can't wait to see what dd picked out at the Secret Santa shop.
6. What are your Christmas plans?

Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
1. Favorite Christmas Song(s): I love church songs. Christmas is my favorite holiday to go to mass because I love the music.

3. Favorite Christmas Memory: I loved Christmas growing up. My mom was amazing at getting us the one thing that we really wanted no matter how hot it was. The woman got 3 cabbage patch kids.

5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? I am really hoping that Nathan gets me the hedgehog measuring cups from Anthropology.
6. What are your Christmas plans? Too much running around.
Plus, DH just informed me that his cousin is coming in a few days early so they can go fishing and is going to stay with us. So now, on top of everything else I still have to do, my house has to be company ready. I don't even have my shopping done since I literally have been working 11 hour days because someone was out sick. Our tree isn't even up yet.
But, I have a sequin skirt so that makes it all okay!
7. New Year's plans? Don't know yet. Probably make a nice dinner at home and maybe go to the movies.
1. Favorite Christmas Song(s): ANother one for All I want for Christmas. Can't help but turn it way up when it comes on the radio!
2. Least Favorite Christmas Song(s): probably the shoe song too.
3. Favorite Christmas Memory: Ummm. I remember as a kid we went to my grandma's for christmas eve. We all opened gifts and then somehow they distracted my cousin and I (were were probably 10 & 8) and we came back in the room and there were bikes for us. It was like, "how did santa do that?"
4. What gift are you most excited about giving? DD has been asking for a Dora Gymnastics for months. Thank god I got one months ago. She is going to love it. Pretty excited to give my mom her Keuirg. She has no clue we got for her.
5. What gift are you most excited about receiving? I told DH I needed a new steeler jersey. my old hines one is getting nasty looking.
6. What are your Christmas plans? MILs for Christmas Eve. She does heavy appetizers vs sit down meal. Christmas Day we host dinner for both sides of the family. Which really is about 15 of us or so.
