Re: First Christmas being Married?!
You must must get an ornament "Our First Christmas 2012!" We never did and I'm so sad that we didn't.
Other then that, I got DH whatever I heard he mention he wanted.
TTC 19 months ~Started RE in March 2014~
DH was not ready for IUI so we waited
~Started acupuncture in May 2014~
~~BFP 7/6/14~~~EDD 3/14/15~~It's a girl!!~~

Awesome idea!!!!
I have been looking for an ornament, but here in TN they are expensive and are not that pretty. Is there anywhere you would suggest looking for one?
It is our first Christmas as a married couple though we have celebrated as a couple the last 3 years. We did get the "Our First Christmas 2012" ornament and we got it from Hallmark (though it sold out quick and we were on a waiting list for 3 weeks for it). Since we were worried we wouldn't get it, we also picked up another Hallmark Keepsake ornament dated 2012 with two snowmen (a boy and a girl you can customize with names). I also saw this awesome idea on Pinterest to shred one of your wedding invitations into curls and put it in a clear ornament and decorate the outside with the date or "Our first Christmas." I need to get on that!
Rather than finding the "perfect first married Christmas gift," I just got him things I knew he would like. My husband is a giant nerd (as am I) so I bought him Batman footie pajamas, a Doctor Who lunchbox, a Star Wars messenger bag and various stocking stuffers like Hot Wheels (his family collects classic cars), a robot tea infuser (we are big tea drinkers), and a bendable bacon toy. Shopping for him is fun as it's like shopping for my 13 year old brother. If any others are out there wondering where to buy the best gifts for nerdy husbands, I highly recommend Thinkgeek.com. I have bought him something from there for pretty much every gift giving occasion.
I love the 'Our First Christmas 2012' ornament idea the PP's had!
This is our first Christmas living together (I'm not married, but this post topic caught my eye) For us, it's more about creating brand new Christmas traditions just for the two of us, instead of focusing on what gifts to give.
To celebrate our first Xmas together we bought Christmas pajamas to wear on Xmas eve and we're going to make dinner and bake christmas cookies in them, then watch christmas movies all night. So cheesy - but also a fun new thing to look forward to every year.
I have bought a Disney Christmas ornament with the date on every year since we moved to NYC. If you like Disney ornaments check out their website or a physical store.
Also, for our first Christmas as a married couple I ordered (from a crafty friend) large personalized spheres with wedding pictures inside. They look wonderful!
I love the idea of the new Christmas Tradition that you have decided to do. I would love to stay up all night and watch movies but I am not a night owl lol
I wish my husband was a geek lol seems he would be easier to buy for. But my husband is into the street racing thing and everything he wants is for his car and way over our budget for Christmas. But I have purchased him an engraved lighter and the first 4 series to the Big Bang Thoery (he loves that show ) and I dont know what else to get him
well he would always try and record it on our DVR. So there is no telling what seasons we have seen or have not because they were never in order. So I figured if I bought the seasons, we could start from the beginning. Cause I like the show too
Try, www.thingsremembered.com I love that place!! And a lot of people always mention etsy.com or maybe even eBay.
Good luck
I'm glad I'm not alone.
I don't remember what we got each other for our first Christmas together or our first Christmas married. Goodness gracious, I can barely remember the specifics of last year.
I made an ornament. I embroidered it on white felt in the same design as our wedding invitations (conveniently, red and green line drawings on a white background), but with "Our first married Christmas 2005" (or some such) instead of the wedding invite stuff. I haven't seen it in a bit because we are moving for Christmas this year (close on our first house on the 27th--woohoo--so we're packing rather than decorating). I have no idea what else I got him that year.
Unfortunately, it was a very memorable Christmas because we spent it with my family and my mentally ill brother had just gone off his meds. Also, my sister's FIL died on Christmas eve. Hopefully your first Christmas will be less memorable than that!
For those who wish they'd gotten an ornament in a past year, you can pick them up cheap off ebay and give as a gift this year... We also have a "First Christmas Together" ornament from--gosh I don't even remember what year--since our first Christmas together was before we were married, but I bought it a year or two later.
It's our first Christmas married as well. I found one of those ornaments at Bed Bath and Beyond for maybe $10.
Regarding gifts, we made each other a list of 5 things that we really want, so we had some ideas from each other (not that we're getting each other those 5 exact things...).
I got the hubs a bottle of his cologne, the LOTR Blue-ray box set, Beerfest on Blue-ray, a t-shirt that says "Keep Calm and Kill Zombies," and new pick-ups for his guitar. And, of course, a stocking full of Reeses Trees. His birthday is the 23rd, so I'm letting him pick a present to open as his birthday present.
I'd rather get him things he'll like rather than something I think is big and spectacular. Because, let's face it, we'll both remember things about this Christmas because it's a Christmas of firsts (first at our VA apartment, first married, first without my mom, first with a niece, etc...).
You know your husband better than a bunch of internet strangers, you don't have any ideas for Christmas presents? I find that odd.
ETA - Sorry if that sounded harsh. I didn't realize you were looking for presents to celebrate you "first married Christmas."
Hey klhuggins,
You can purchase a romantic room decoration is something you both will enjoy and its a romantic way to celebrate your love and your first Christmas together! Good luck.
