Re: Walters/Chris Christie - Thoughts?

  • I watched it and thought it was odd she asked about his weight.  seemed like a totally random question to me.  some people can easily loose weight while other struggle just to maintain their weight.  I guess people really are focused on appearances.  During the Hillary segment Barbara asked Hillary about her hair. who cares?

  • Barbara Walters has jumped the shark.

  • I hate the Christie weight issues.  Every time a comedian makes a fat joke I literally cringe.

Geraldo is right (yes, again!).  Barbara isn't a real journalist anymore.

I watched that. If I were Hillary Clinton, I would be pretty pissed that I was included in a list with Honey Boo Boo.

  • I think this just shows the nations preoccupation with weight.  If Christie was a beanpole, would that make him a great president?

Who cares what the scale says?  If he doesn't have any severe health issues...I personally think he would make a great president.

  • I'm fine with a fat person being president provided he/she doesn't pick a Palin-like running mate.

I agree.  Unfortunately, I was listening to some talk program where they were discussing the fact that his weight makes him appear "sloppy" and "non presidential"...

ETA...and, regardless of whether or not he actually has health issues...the general thought is/would be that no one his size could NOT have health issues.  I've been there.  Sad.

Same. The fact that she was even considered for this list is ridiculous.

I think it's things like calling reporters "stupid" that make him look non presidential.

On the other hand, I appreciate that. If you haven't noticed, there are a fair share of "stupid" reporters out there.  I say "kudos" to Christie for calling it like it is.

I definitely disagree with the bolded.  It reminds me of Donald Trump, and how he is always calling people, "loser."

I  hope someone that could be President would come up with a more mature rejoinder.  The President has to meet with people of all cultures and nationalities.  I honestly think many would find Christie offensive, as I do.

I knew someone was going to applaud his "candor.". I didnt say it wasn't a candid comment, I said it wasn't presidential.  Part of being president is being diplomatic enough to disagree with class.

Believe it or not, Chris Christie is not the arbiter of who is/is not stupid.  It'd be nice if he had enough self-awareness to realize that and keep his mouth shut,

Actually, he called him an idiot.  Christie asked the reporter if he was stupid.

    Just wanted to clarify!  ;)

  • Chris Christie's weight bothers me less than when *** Cheney picked himself to be the VP for W.

For a guy who was supposed to be "a heartbeat away from the presidency" you'd think he could've picked a stronger heart candidate.

But no, I don't think Christie's weight should be a major issue in regards to his qualifications for the presidency. And I'm disappointed in Barbara for asking about that.
