MP3 player question...

I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I want to get my DH an mp3 player for christmas - we really miss a Philadelphia morning radio show and he would love to podcast it and listen to it on his 45 minute ride into work. Do you think it's worth the $ to buy the brand name IPod or have you guys had luck with the other, more reasonably priced brand names? What do you recommend?

A few years ago I had another brand mp3 player and it was so-so, can't remember what kind. I would go for the Ipod if I were you.

I have had a scandisk mp3 player and an MPIO mp3 player and didn't like either of them.  I finally got my IPOD Nano and I LOVE it!

I had I saneso (?) and some other off brand that I never liked.   Then DH & I both bought each other refurbished Ipods (from the apple.com) store last year for christmas.   They both arrived looking brand new and neither of us have had any problems, and they come with warranties if you do have a problems.     So my suggestion would be to shop there.

My iPod is the first one I've had, so I can't speak to other brands, but it is nice having everything sync up with iTunes. It makes it easy to manage your library.

I have the iPod Touch. I like the visual touch-screen interface for the most part because it is really cool and intuitive, BUT I will say that it is very tough to operate while driving because there are no buttons to play pause and fast forward, just the smooth touch screen, which you have to look down at to use. I didn't buy it for use in the car, so it doesn't really bother me, but if your DH plans to use it a lot in the car, you may want to consider the Nano instead of the Touch.

the new Nanos are really nice - i would go with the high capacity nano..... (i have the original ipod nano 4gb and i really want to upgrade now)

I have the IPOD Video and Shuffle. I love the video because you can create different playlists. So even though it is bigger I prefer the features it has to the shuffle.

i've got to say i really love my Ipod.  I had an off-brand mp3 player before and it just didn't cut it.  the ipod offers so much, i think it's def. worth the extra $'s to get the brand name one.

I guess I am the odd man out. I have a Sandisk Sansa e260 and I love it. I had a 1GB from a few years back and ran out of space so I upgraded last Christmas. I guess since I'm not into Itunes or any of that I don't have use for the ipod. I subscribe to Napster to go and it gets me all the music and features I need Good luck!

This is late -- sorry.

I bought my niece a ipod nano and my DH a ipod classic for Christmas last year. I bought it online when they had their Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale. (It was one or the other) I saved a lot and it was free shipping and free engraving.

You HAVE to get an ipod -- I swear by mine. (I have a shuffle and a nano) I was going to get an iphone, but I am going to wait until it's smaller. (yes, I know it will get smaller!)

No need to go elsewhere -- just go to apple.com and get the best deal. (Again, I saved a lot more than if I would have bought them elsewhere . . . and plus I got a red nano which you can only get from apple)
