Bigger than a rut..?
So, here it is exactly 1yr and 17 days after our wedding, and there is no other way to put it simply than we are just in a rut. A long deep rut... Emotionally, sexually, the whole nine yards. We might as well be room mates at this point! We have made the decision to seek counseling but I honestly don't know where to begin, and have always figured therapy to be pricey.. (which isnt best time to financially to splurge). We both want our relationship and marriage to work but quite honestly we both have far too much resentment and unfulfilled expectations that are weighing us down. To give a bit of history, my husband is only child and father passed away at 15, so mom is and always has been the safety net.. ie would get second job before he would have to get one! I lost all my family and am very "pull yourself up" type. Regardless, shortly after engagement we moved into his mothers- yes, you see where this is going.. we were there for 14mos and we both believe it crushed our relationship.. I couldnt be his "woman" and take care of him etc because she would always beat me to punch. Also, he has really let himself go and it makes me feel like he takes me for granted by thinking, "well i got her so she's not going anywhere, why should I care?" Equaling to my resentment and affecting passion period! I would appreciate just any leads or directions on where to find.how to find a good counselor (besides churches) and am hoping to get the ball rolling so we can get back on track!
