I was in such a great mood this morning, and thinking how blessed I am to have such a wonderful life. I got to the coffee shop, waited 10 minutes in line, got to the window and asked the girl to add the gentleman behind me order to my total. She said "do you know him", I said no, but I do this once a year, believing someday it will all come back to me somehow, to which she smiled. I said tell him "Merry Christmas", and I drove away.
I watched in the rear-view to see if he would pay it forward, but nothing..... further up the road as he drove past me in his fancy car and suit, I got a nod.....yes a nod... from him. I know deep down inside he really appreciated it!!!!
Anyone have a great pay it forward story they'd like to share.
Re: Pay it forward.....
Aw, that's really sweet! I've been wanting to do this but I'd probably end up with the person behind me being one of those people who orders the whole menu and I just can't spend $40 at a fast food place.
I did hear the story recently though, at a chickfila (I think here in AL) where someone did that, and then the next 16 or 17 cars did the same. Pretty amazing
That is really sweet!!! This happened to my mom and I and I and it was around Christmas time too, we where really shocked and that's when I found out that there is still amazing people in this world!!
Like Zonkaghoop said, I will also end up getting the person who orders everything!! I might try this next time when I'm at Starbucks!
We had a patient of ours host a yard sale and she gave our cancer center every penny. It ended up being over $600!
And every year I do operation backpack, thanksgiving food drives and holiday toy drives. I love knowing I made a difference for someone.
I'm so glad to see there are still giving people out there in this crazy world!!!
Usually I keep my window down long enough to hear what they order..LOL
I do it here and there.
One time I was at the mall Christmas Shopping and I stopped in the Food Court to eat at Panda Express. In front of me was probably a 16 year old boy and what I think was his girlfriend or a girl he liked. You could tell he was trying look good. They ordered a meal to share and a drink to share and when he went to pay he didn't have enough. He look so embarresed, and she looked like she didn't know what to do. The boy reminded me so much of my younger brother I couldn't help myself. I was waiting to check out behind them so I told the cashier to add it to my order....they seemed shocked and very thankful. It's nice to be able to do stuff like that!
I actually do it less around Christmas, and more throughout the rest of the year. Shouldn't we all be giving and helpful all year round?? (not trying to offend anyone- it's just that DH and I don't celebrate xmas, so the cheery "christmas customs" are lost on us- we just try to be like that as much as we can.)
Oh yes for sure, I just meant someone paid for our drinks at Starbucks and I believe it was around Christmas time. We should always help all year round its just some people do it more around Christmas, but yes you are right we should give all year round!
DH and I always try to give homeless people as well but only if they don't look like drug addicts or alcoholics. If they look like they really need it I will help them.
My mom used to sell food at a construction site a few years back and if she had burritos or anything left we would give them to homeless and once it was getting cold out and we had a lot of burritos left and there was a big group of homeless people in the middle of the park so we walked all the way to give them the burritos and some sodas, and when we got to them they said they did not want them. They where all drinking and that made me mad so after that I watch out who I help.
Call me an a$$hole, but I'm my own charity case. Don't get me wrong, if I had more money I'd love to help out those less fortunate. But I'm busted!

Both these statements make me laugh.....I don't have x-ray vision drug detection eyes, nor have a ever seen a person WITHOUT A HOME who did not look like they "really need" help.
