since we're slow AW: my husband

he graduated with his Ph.D. today!!!

and a story that seriously made me cry...

so the president was talking and highlighting a few graduates with exceptional stories...he told the story of a masters degree student who's husband was in a car accident and she took a leave of absence from the program to care for him. After an 11 month coma, he woke up and she felt inspired to finish...she did. The president has her stand up and she turns and waves at her husband...who is in a wheel chair and seems very limited. Made me tear up hard.

Then as they were recessing, he was standing (with assistance) and as she walked out, he blew a kiss...

I lost it..

God Bless people for being more awesome then I ever will

  • I think he'll always do the band thing...they play on average about 1X a weekend...

and for now he's keeping his day job anyways, working at a local unversity in the Grants/Contracts dept...but his ultimate goal/passion is to be a professor.

Also, his advisors are encouraging him to turn his dissertation into a book, I think that will take several years but would be really cool. His dissertation was about the history of prohibition in Balitmore and how modern day prohibition policies exist
