we made it almost 3 months...
before my husband lost his wedding band. Ugh. STUPID BLIZZZARD!!!
He was cleaning off the car from all the snow on friday, he felt is slide a bit at one point then he slid it back on his finger and kept going then when he finished he got in the car we got about 1 mile up the street and he realized it was not on his finger, we tried looking everywhere we could in the snow, Then looked again that night and again the next day but the kids who live above us were apparently having a snow ball fight in the parking lot so who knows how far it could have went.
I know its a material thing but it still makes me sad!
Re: we made it almost 3 months...
My husband lost his band about a month after our ceremony. He felt TERRIBLE. I found him walking up and down the street outside his office looking desperately for it one night. He had been looking for an hour on his own before even calling me. I told him it's okay - it's not like he lost our first born child or something. It's replaceable.
Sorry about his ring!
We got my husbands wedding band with the intention that he would probably loose it. We have heard so many stories from friends (one is on his 4th or 5th band by now ) that we just expected it. Luckily, it has not happened yet to us.
It is obvious that he did not loose it on purpose or anything. Guys just do not pay attention to their jewelry as females do (most of the time). For the next band, you can insure them with your homeowner's insurance and they will replace it if it is lost again.
I'm sorry about the ring but please don't be mean to your DH!
I lost my wedding rings in July and got married in December and I cried my eyes out for 3 days straight! My husband pretended to not be mad until one day he told me that he was upset because he had worked so hard to get me those rings. He hasn't been mean or anything but I do feel bad because I know he worked hard! I'm not saying your mean to him but don't keep telling him that you can't believe he lost it because it sucks really bad! It's not even what it's worth is the sentimental value of them!! Like PP said try a metal detector if not its ok at least he's not sick or something worse
Good luck
My husband lost his a few months before our one year anniversary. He took it off after a co-worker accidentally spilled boiling water onto his hand and it had to come off. He put it in his pocket and we think it just fell out.
It made him really sad. He felt like he failed. He wanted to always wear the ring I had put on his finger during the ceremony. But I think he feels better about it now. We had originally bought him two rings because he wasn't sure what he was going to like and now he loves the other ring a lot. He says it's actually more comfortable. *shrug* Everything happens for a reason.
It's ok to be sad even though it's just a material thing. But it is just a symbol of something bigger.
Thank you all
I'm deffinately not trying to give him a hard time about it, i think thats why i came here so i could vent about how sad i am. he feels terrible. i keep telling him it wasn't on purpose so he can't blame anyone. if he had done something stupid to lose it, id be mad but he was simply cleaning off the car from snow, something he has done a zillion times before. It could have just as easily been me, except for he was being the good guy and had be sitting in the car while he cleaned it off.
And thinking realistically, we only spend $200 on his ring, it could have been alot more, but that was the one he picked out. Granted, I sure don't have $200 to replace the ring right now but it will be easier to replace then if he had picked one that was like $800 or even more.
I like the idea of creating a new memory in giving him his new ring....his birthday is in 3 weeks but i honestly dont think i will have the money by then. maybe valentines day? ill have to start thinking.
I think the other thing that bothers me is since we got married we have had terrible luck and things seems to keep going wrong,(car, job issues, dental issues with no insurance etc) and this was just another thing to add to the list.
Oh well bring on 2013, Im ready for a change, and thanks again ladies! I think im really liking the nest better then the knot!
I almost lost my engagement ring a couple of weeks ago and I was extremely distraught until I had it on my finger again. Even though I have my wedding band, I know how much both rings mean to my husband and I would absolutely hate to loose either one of them. I know my husband would feel the same way if he were to loose his band.
Both of my parents have lost their rings at one point or another. Luckily they have always turned up. So maybe you'll discover it, again!
I'm sure he feels terrible, but you were right when you said it's only a material thing. Sure, it's an important symbol, but it's what it symbolizes that's most important.
I accidently left my Engagement ring at the tanning salon once, the girl called be to tell me, I was literally like 4 blocks away I just had to circle back around, but driving those 4 blocks felt like it took hours to get back there.
He really couldn't have lost it in a much worse place, I think that is the problem is we are both feeling helpless, like my husbands ring is somewhere in our parking lot, we should be out there looking until we find it!! duh!! seems so simple but it's not. We asked the city(live in a small one) about a metal detector to see if they had one we could borrow and they had one but it is also used to find some kinda lines in the ground. Anyway we went over and over the parking lot and only got a slight response, right near the front of the car, up against the building, so we dug through snow and searched until we couldn't feel our fingers anymore, and no luck. the lady from the city said it is possible the dector was picking up one of the underground lines or whatever.
the parking area has been plowed so it could be anywhere in our alley, luckily the weather doesnt call for more snow for at least the next week so it wont get further burried, but there is no above freezing temps so no chance of any of it metling.
TTC since June 2012
DH and I have "starter rings"
We plan to get nicer rings one day when money isn't as tight. At my church, you can get holy objects blessed any time and I've planned a sort of blessing ceremony for when we do "upgrade". Not sure how religious you guys are, but something similar might help the new ring feel "right'.
