Baltimore Dockworkers Strike

I am bad about keeping up with the news, but I just found out yesterday from my MIL that there is a possible dockworkers strike in Baltimore. As a newlywed planning to cruise from Baltimore next month, I am scared to death that we're going to have to rush to re-plan a honeymoon. I'm hoping for the best, but I have the worst luck (at our wedding, for example, someone stole cash from my bridesmaids purses that were locked up in our bridal suite).

Just needed to vent.

Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That's relativity. --Albert Einstein

Re: Baltimore Dockworkers Strike

  • I hadn't heard about that! Have you been in contact with your travel agent or the cruiseline? Perhaps you can cruise out of another port -- Norfolk or New York. Certainly not as convenient, but sometimes peace of mind can be worth a little inconvenience.
  • My husband works for the port (not the idiots that want to strike) and cruise ships will still move. They basically told the ILA to piss off. You should be fine.

The strike is for the whole eastern seaboard so it wouldn't help to go to NY or VA

  • Oh GOOD! I was so worried. That's good to hear. We haven't heard anything from the cruise line yet, but it's just scary.
