Obama to Spend at Least $7 Million to Fly Back and ?Address? the Fiscal Crisis
Re: Obama to Spend at Least $7 Million to Fly Back and ?Address? the Fiscal Crisis
Lurker chiming in:
A: your source seems ludicrous. Seriously? A new media militia?
B: is there ANYTHING that Obama can do that wouldn't upset you? Does the man use too much toilet paper for you as well? Not clean his plate thus "wasting food and government money"?
I'll admit that the only reason I read P&CE is for your posts. I sincerely wish you had a blog.
Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!

I like you, please stay.
LOL - I'm a Canadian living in England, I don't exactly have much to contribute - I did get a popcorn maker for Christmas, though!
It's unfortunate I didn't get a label maker as well - could have printed out a "For P&CE Posts" and slapped that on there.
Honestly, I love hearing about how the POTUS is secretly a muslim terrorist, guns don't kill people and atheists are incapable of selflessness.
It's pretty awesome.

What CoffeeBeen said.
But seriously, we need more outside perspective on just how f'ed up Amur'ca is. Please? And no one said it had to be American politics and current events... you could educate us on your side of the pond. Are you in England for good or a temporary stint?
Lexi is totally right. I really don't think that Americans grasp just how conservative the GOP has gotten. Their ideas are so normalized by our media and culture that they don't realize a large part of the world is like, "WTF?"
I haven't actually lived in North America in about 10 years - we were living in China for about 6 years before I was transferred over here - no plans to move "home" any time soon, really. We kind of consider ourselves "global citizens" now and no longer associate with anywhere in particular. It's hard to explain.
And yeah, it's funny that we'd be willing to move and raise our kids pretty much anywhere BUT the States at this point.

As for issues on the other side of the pond there are certainly plenty, though not as sensationalized as the States, obviously. My particular favorite in the UK recently was the guy that was actually jailed over a bad joke as a FB status, followed closely by the guy that was jailed over a slogan on his T-shirt.
In the UK.
And NOBODY seemed to make a big deal about this.

I actually looked at your blog a bit after posting before.
a) your daughters are beyond adorable, potty-training nightmares aside.
b) you really sound like fun. PLEASE stay?
c) I had to stop reading after I saw a picture of cats in China. I could deal with the story of how you got your ungrateful cat, but the visual was too much. I'm too much of a cat person for that, lol.
I would love to experience life for at least a while in the more 'global citizen' context. Maybe someday. Right now, we're a bit stuck as DH is in the military, but if he decides to get out after next year, there's a slight chance we might look into moving to Australia for a few years, so it's something I guess... though my dream graduate program is actually in the UK so I don't want to rule that out either.
I better start playing the lottery.
edit: oh and now I'm fascinated. Will I at least find an article or two if I start googling about being arrested over FB statuses and t-shirts?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/oct/08/april-jones-matthew-woods-jailed
April Jones is a 5 or 6 year old from Wales that was abducted recently - from a tiny village, completely shook the country. This douchecanoe made some sort of joke about it on his FB which, granted, was in exceptionally poor taste and he had such a public backlash over it that he needed police protection in his own home and had to move - but I was floored that he was given actual JAIL TIME over a FB status.
Yes, no other country has the range of freedom of speech that the States does, even Canada (for which I am usually somewhat grateful - can't promote hatred, etc) but this seemed very extreme.
Even more shocking though was that it was not a big deal here AT ALL, and the UK newspapers usually go rabid over public policy issues.
So bizarre.
Thank you very much for the compliments! I haven't gone into my blog for a very long time - I should really get back onto that, writing is a nice outlet. I've been doing a Masters and got very sick (*&?%"%"&$&!!!) and just haven't had room for much else lately.
Very cool to move to Australia for awhile - have you got family there? Have you planned out your visas?
Oh, and if you thought the cat story was rough - the elevator story on there is much worse. Yeesh. Or the teeth in the hotel bed. Iccccccckkkkkkkk.......
Sigh. I miss China.

Holy crap. If anyone deserved it though...
No, I really do love free speech. Sometimes though, you just sort of wish that there was a law against ignorant stupidity.
Australia- nope, no family. If it did happen (a very big 'if'), it would be a work-related thing for my husband- the Australian military recruits from prior service military out of the US (and other countries, I think) and MH got sort of into the idea after an Australian officer training with his unit talked it up a few months ago. The US military is majorly downsizing right now so depending on a handful of factors (including how adventurous and/or masochistic we're feeling) he might look into it next year. Ultimately though, I think we're both going to be ready to be done with the military life though, so we'll see.
I did see the teeth in bed story (the picture that killed me was in that post I think? Near it anyway), though I'm not sure if that creeps me out more than the dead hooker down the hall.
Cats, this is about as stupid as that MM poster who said that she didn't like Obama because he had dinner with his kids several times a week when there were people in this country who couldn't have dinner with their kids because they were working so Obama should be working, too.
I mostly lurk over here too, but OMG I agree with CoffeeBeen: please stay!
Tofu is a crack-up!
It gets really fun if you start digging in to the source. They're an affiliate of Liberty Alliance, which has all kinds of other right-wing conspiracy crackpot affiliates. My favorite was the story about how sick lefties want HW Bush to die a slow and painful death. Their sources? Random lunatics off of Twitter. Some of whom didn't even seem to be from the US.
Cheers!

Pshaw! I bet he doesn't even celebrate Christmas.
But seriously, Minute Men News and you want to be taken seriously? Okie dokie.
