Suggestions for gloves to accommodate a large ring?

Hi ladies! I've got a bit of a dilema and hoped someone here may be able to help.  My ring gets in the way when I try and wear gloves and I can't seem to find a pair of gloves that will keep my fingers warm and allow me to keep my ring on.  I don't trust myself to take my ring off every time I go outside. I'm bound to do something horrible to it.  I've seen fingerless gloves, but those seem useless to me, because it is my fingers that get the most cold.  I've looked at Nordstrom and Saks, but just can't seem to find something soft that will work well. I've tried regular knit cashmere gloves (it is what I have now) but the flexibility of the weave isn't enough to accommodate my ring (the stone is seated pretty high on the setting and takes up a decent amount of real estate).  Anyone know where I might find something that would work?  My fingers are ice cold! Brr!

Re: Suggestions for gloves to accommodate a large ring?

  • You could have some custom made.

ie, with a hole for the ring. Then people could still appreciate its magnitude, while your fingers stay toasty warm?

  • Hmm. That actually gave me an idea.  I wonder if my seamstress could just add a hole to my current cashmere gloves. It would mean I can still wear them with the matching scarf!
  • I wear lined leather gloves and what I do is I twist the ring so the stone is under my finger instead of on top and the glove slides on easily.

  • Mittens. Mine are North Face and fleece lined.
  • Mittens.

The tugging of the setting on the lining of a glove is an excellent way to lose a stone. When I got married the second time, I chose a lower setting.

  • I've also turned my ring around so the stone is facing down but it gets in the way of my driving.  so i wear mittens.  pretty much any kind work but i can see how an unlined pair might snag the stone.
