The end of Russian adoptions...
Re: The end of Russian adoptions...
the adoption process here is way harder and longer, thats why so many people go to russia. we have a friend that has adopted 2 russian babies. they are so well mannered and cute.
Do you have any idea how long the waiting list is for adopting an infant in the United States? It's measured in years - many years.
It is a complete myth that there are tons of parentless babies sitting around waiting to be adopted in this country.
There are tons of *children* waiting to be adopted in the US.
There's a shortage of healthy *babies*.
As a matter of fact, I know all about the adoption process here in the United States, most of all, that a great majority of people want only healthy-white newborns, leaving most of the other babies to the system. As they get older, their chances for adoption decrease. Controversially, it actually costs less in this country to adopt a black or hispanic baby, than a caucasian, since there is such a "surplus"...but people still look overseas, turning away from our crisis here.
